The Wicked Wop
http://www.panicware.com/ I use the free version and it kills virtually all popups
The Wicked Wop
The only one draw back the free version has is that their are no options, and it usually kills user invoked popups (like pictures and sometimes new broswers). It is just a simple click to deactivate it though and open up a pop screen. I usually do that and just reactive it once i have the pop up open. At the very least it will kill your unwanted pop ups. Skinz248
Sorry I forgot to mention that I am talking about the Windows XP popups. I would rather not have to download a program because I know there is a way to do it without that. Thanks anyways!!!
FranklinNoble
Unless you use another browser, like Opera or Mozilla Firebird, which blocks pop-up ads automatically, you cannot block pop-ups with IE without using a third-party utility like Panicware (which I use, and like very much). Skinz248
Ok guys I figured it out. For all of you that hate the XP popups, go to Run. Type in services.msc and press Ok. Scroll down to Messenger, and disable it, then stop it. If there are any questions just email me.

Microsoft made a huge mistake by not disabling this service "out of the box" for Windows NT, Windows 2000, and Windows XP. The only practical use for it is in business networks, which could easily remotely re-enable it as necessary with security policies. Just my :2cents:
