JimmiJo
http://www.warpathconfidential.com/?p=1631 Samuels out against K.C. Offensive tackle Chris Samuels is out against Kansas City on Sunday with a stinger, forcing a three-way shift on the offensive line. Samuels underwent an MRI for the injury suffered in the 20-17 loss at Carolina on Sunday. Anthony Batiste subbed for Samuels because the Redskins were a guard short, but coach Jim Zorn said he was unable to call “long-sustaining plays” with the former in. Mike Williams will move from right guard to right tackle and Stephon Heyer will shift from right to left tackle. Click to read the full story (more coming)... Chump Bailey
Could be ugly - KC has some talent on the DL. Their NT will likely have his way with Rabach. I don't think MW played all that bad at RG. I hope he's up to the task at RT.

triple569
This is not good news at all. Without Samuels we were unable to send Cooley out on any routes at all......

TDDance234
Yikes. For those wanting Collins, here's your chance. Campbell doesn't stand a chance with that O-Line. Heyer, who isn't good enough to play RT moves over to an even more important position and a guy who hasn't started at tackle in 5 years to replace him? Good grief. Whiskey17
This is not good news at all. Without Samuels we were unable to send Cooley out on any routes at all...... Good point. What I didn't understand yesterday was why not bring in Yoder, the blocking tight end, to help out Batiste and send Cooley, our most consistent receiver, out on patterns. Hail Gibbs
Ugh. THE most irreplaceable player on our team. We desperately need reinforcements, but this was known since well before the season started so I am not so hopeful. But please Danny, Vinny, whoever is actually making the decisions, don't spend any draft picks on acquiring someone.

Larry Brown #43
good thing o-line depth was addressed in the draft... Agreed...we all knew it was unlikely that Samuels and Randy Thomas would make it through the season unscathed. Good thing the FO strategically planned for that scenario by sticking their fingers in their ears and going, "LALALALALALALALALA...I CAN'T HEAR YOU...LALALALALALALA!!!" Vooskin
Good point. What I didn't understand yesterday was why not bring in Yoder, the blocking tight end, to help out Batiste and send Cooley, our most consistent receiver, out on patterns. Because that would be a different package, youd have two tight ends out there and neither of them have much speed and with the extra TEs out there the defense could leave more LBs in the game. We were getting our asses handed to us with just their regular 4-3 personnel and zorn wanted cooley in there blocking and if campbell got enough time cooley was probably on delayed routes so he would break off for the underneath since thats all that campbell throws. Just turns out cooley is not a good blocker. We also did go to 2 TE packages but with fred davis to utilize his athleticism. Unfortunately Davis does a good job of getting open but a bad job of YAC plus when cooley is out there more focus is shifted to him. If you ask me I want to know why we didnt have more WRs out there and take portis out of the game and put campbell in the shogtun and have a bunch of quick slants, ins, etc. The only time we had quick slant was probably from a 2 wide singleback formation/iform and jason campbell so obviously gives away where the ball is going immediately. No head fakes nothing as soon as the ball is snapped he stares moss down.

Brandon Lloyd Christmas
A stinger does not cause a player to be declared out on Monday. What's going on? samuels is most likely pretty injured, but due to how dreadful the state of the team is, they dont wanna heap even more brutal news on the team. so theyre calling it a stinger to play damage control. Vooskin
My point is Cooley who can't block was staying in and Fred Davis was out in patterns. To me it would make more sense to leave Yoder in to block and send Cooley out and leave Davis on the bench. As much as we love cooley hes not the fastest guy out there and more often then not won't beat double coverage. If we cant block and yoder would help but not that much, but if we can't block then teams know to press our receivers and shift coverage to the safety nets aka cooley. Coverage was tight almost all game and you saw moss getting bumped right off the line. I understand the logic is putting yoder in there to block and throw to cooley but zorn knows campbell. I know campbell well enough to know campbell doesn't throw the tight passes needed to win in this league, only time he throws a tight pass is when he forces passes to guys he decided he was going to before the play started. Cooley very well could have a step on his man but campbell wouldn't throw it and in truth he didn't because I saw cooley open a few times. People don't realize how much is really campbells fault. The line is terrible but campbell is a guy that needs an optimal situation just to have an ok day. I should clarify "open" as having a step on your man, being ahead of him, having anytype of separation. Reason to clarify this as alot of people think open is wide open. You cannot expect players to be wide open every week. Notice how most passes campbell throws to wide open people or guys with like 10 yards of separtion from their defender? I have been preaching for awhile campbell's inability to see/understand/whatever you want to call it what open at the NFL level actually is. I won't go any farther as I'm getting off topic now. jkypoo
Mike Williams will move from right guard to right tackle and Stephon Heyer will shift from right to left tackle. Either Will Montgomery or Chad Rinehart will play right tackle depending on practice this week.[/Quote]Can you clarify this? As it is, you have three people vying for the RT position in BMW, Rhino, and Montgomery. I assume you meant RG in one of the quoted instances, but I wasn't sure which. I want to know what I should fear: BMW trying to pull from the Guard spot; or BMW trying to match up on the edge.

cuqui
Redskins fans should be worrying about losing Samuels for more than one game. In his presser Zorn said Chris' injury is related to his suffering from stenosis (narrowing of the spinal column) which, after trauma, has ended the career of a lot of players -- perhaps the most notable Sterling Sharpe of the Packers in 1994. Folks better be keeping their fingers crossed on this one.

redskins55
Yeah, i was thinking that as well. I never heard of a player missing an entire game because of a stinger. Exactly.. He might have nerve damage in there somewhere tha trequires prolonged healing. But he doesn't have a " stinger". I would hate to be placed on the injured list with that as a reason. The folks around the leage would be having a field day with that :hysterical:
