Brian Billick: "This organization brought it on themselves"

Always liked Billick.

He'd still make someone a first class O coordinator if he could live with that after running the whole show.

And it's hard to not accept any criticism of this shambles.

We are what we are.

Hail.

Eh. Look at the Ravens' offense when he was coach: horrible. He's in the booth for a reason.

i thought it was funny how he kept circling Randle El and Cooley and saying "id be going to one of these guys right now" and the ball was never thrown their way...

maybe he knows a thing or two...

You could do that circling on every incompletion or interception by every quarterback ever.

Jesus, people, this is Brian frickin' Billick. He blows.

Word.

Cam Cameron in less than 2 years has established both a passing and running game for the Ravens with pretty much all the pieces Billick had.

I do agree this whole Zorn/Sherman Smith thing is Cerrato/Synder's doing.

Instead of handing the team over to Williams/Saunders they went with people who had NO business or experince in running this offense or this team.

His Viking offense set records galore prior, and he didn't fully run the O in Baltimore for much of his tenure. For example, when he did finally fire Fassel after two disastrous years and take full control of the Ravens O after the bye in '06, he led them to a franchise best regular season record and put up points in the process.

Like Norv, the guy's a great offensive mind. It just falls down when he get's to run the whole show, with all the extra responsibility's that brings.

Hail.

Not to mention he ripped the Sherm Lewis hire during the game. I know Billick isn't the greatest coach ever, or the greatest analyst, but he has done fairly well when doing our games.

Billick is speaking from experience when he rips the Sherm Lewis hire. Remember the Ravens hired Fassel as a consultant to "help" him out.

Wait, he was the Vikings's OC? Back in the Randy Moss early years?

If so, then I retract quite a bit.

My only reservation in completely putting my foot in my mouth is that the Ravens didn't have Fassel when they had an awful offense for a few years, and they didn't really have a high-powered offense until this season. To be honest, I thought that they were going to beat New Orleans in the Super Bowl until recently.

Anyway, you've sold me some. I still think that an offensive head coach should have a strong offense and a defensive head coach should have a strong defense.

The only time he was a great OC was when he worked with Denny Green in Minnesota and had Cunnigham and Culpepper as QBs... Randy Moss and Chris Carter as WRs... and maybe Nate Burelson?? And a RB I forget... Robert ??

I gotta say, I intend to use the word 'minutia' at least three times in conversation today.

Never a big Billick fan. But I found his commentary to make sense. And remarkably pointed without being mean-spirited.

...I guess it's the MINUTIA of his craft! :D

We are in sad sad shape ladies and germs.

Billick sucked as a head coach...had Randy Moss when he was an OC.

Why is there a thread about what he thinks?

Billick was an OC for the Vikings between 1992-1998. Every year they made the playoffs and had a great offense. Randy Moss entered the league in 1998. Can you do the math?

Brian Billick is garbage. Sherm Lewis replaced him in Minnesota and they still had great stats with a rookie named Culpepper instead of Cunningham.

Then Billick ran a team for a decade with no offense and relied 100% on the defense for all their wins. Wonderful.
