Eternal Optimists Please Give Us Hope and Answer Some Questions

I don't think there are too many fans that are more optimistic than me, but I'm running out of steam. Here's what we've got, in my opinion:

* An above average quarterback and running back who both need an offensive line

* A pretty good head coach who could do the job if we had focused on the offense AT ALL this past offseason

* A "GM" who fired one of the best coaches we've ever had, brought in some terrible wide receivers, and destroyed everything Gibbs did to right this ship as soon as he got the job

Vinny Cerrato is not building a house. He is building a bird's nest out of random pieces of straw and trash that he finds. He has absolutely no direction.

I know we have a few glass half full folks here and I would like them to answer a few questions in regards to our fledgling team.

1. Entice gruden by picking his favorite player ever. (tebow). I dont like tebow, but if that is what it takes to get a coach and a qb that have a fire in their eyes, ill take it. Then find some poor schlub to take the beating that is inevitable next year without oline.

2. Gruden

3. There is good depth in the later rounds for ol this year. Last year, there were elite in the first round. Not so much this year. We could easily take some in the later rounds. Im thinking 2nd and 3rd.

4. This is the redskins, that is just wishful thinking. Skins will always misuse talent. It will take an injury for that to happen.

5. Through the FA

6. They will be undrafted rookies

7. Rogers will be resigned. I have faith that the FO wont screw that up.

8. Nothing. We must fix the ol and qb first. ( and i have been in JC's camp since the begining. It hurts me to say this).

9. Drop Betts. Upgrade Marcus Mason, and Aldridge.

10. Gray. Our defense is not the problem. They will be fine if we keep the same system in place. They just need a weak side backer, and a mlb to take over for fletcher in the future.

11. This can be done if the BPA concept is burned. That does not work in this day and age. It only helps a position, and marketing. It does not help the team. The new coach has to say, " Ok vinny can stay the gm. But you have to draft to draft needs." When vinny actually gets players we need, they are usually pretty good. The problem is that he picks up useless players at positions that arent needed ( fred davis, manuel white, nemo, etc.) or players who dont fit the system ( archuleta, all florida state players, campbell in a west coast offense, brandon lloyd, jason taylor, Jeramiah Trotter, Jesse Armstead, etc.).

I like campbell, and i believe that he can be a good qb. But he has no chance here. The media and fans dislike him. The blame has been put on him. The dude is also about to get ramsey'd. He has actually gotten better this year ( foreseen). If anything, i would sign him for one more year and get tebow.

I know we have a few glass half full folks here and I would like them to answer a few questions in regards to our fledgling team.

1.Being that it is the hottest topic on here how will we fix the QB position? New QB or stick with Jason?

New QB...he just doesn't have IT.

2.Let's face it Zorn is a sitting duck and will most likely be fired, but what coach is going to come in here and get us back to winning ways?

Someone w/ an ego as big (or bigger) than Snyder that believes all these other coaches were not as good as him....someone that is looking to prove how good they think they are to turn this mess around. I believe it will be Super Chucky...

3.How will we address the OL this offseason for youth and depth or will it be ignored again?

Depends who is in the front office and who is coaching. Status Quo - we do nothing.....changes happen and it becomes a priority.

4.Will the coaching staff start playing players to their strength such as letting Rak put his down in the dirt for three downs.

Not this year w/o a change....they are going down w/ the ship and their decisions...Rak needs to take starting DE duties now.

5.Are we going to get an actual Strongside linebacker?

We should.

6.Are we going to see a youth movement on the DL and replace the aging Daniels and Griffin?

See #3

7.Are we going to re-sign Rogers and if not how are we going to replace a very good cover corner? Yes, I know he has hands of stone.

Yep - we re-sign him....while he drops INTs...we have much more glaring problems.

8.What are we going to do about the wr position because it doesn't appear that the three amigos from last years draft are panning out and our starters are getting older?

I believe w/ the coaching change looming....one of the two 2nd round WR pans out...new coach is gonna put the fear of God into people and get results or people get cut/benched.....we pick up a capable WR in the draft late round and we will be OK....ARE is only used for slot - no more punt returning terror.

9.RB is going to now be a position of need IMO. How to plug that in?

I'm hoping we draft one....and worst case we ask Danny to break open the bank in an uncapped year to bring in a replacement for John & Kate (Portis & Sellers).

10.Greg Blache will probably retire. Who becomes the new DC?

No clue....take a chance on some young position phenom....Just don't promote them to HC.

11.How in the hell do we address all of the above with Vinny making the calls?

We don't. Bug eyes gotta go. Time for a real GM.
