CAPT_CHAOS47
With me being in Iraq, i catch the 1pm games at 8pm Baghdad Time. But AFN SUCKS with the games they air. Its always the Pat and Colts. AFN won't show games like the skins and other teams. Only pats and colts, other than the SNF or MNF. So all i can do is listen to 980 on the net.I sit up till 11pm listening to that terrible broadcast with sam and sonny...Just to wake up and start my day at 0230!(by the way the skins have been playing i am in a HORRID MOOD) Out of the 130,000 troops and 75,000 civilian workers we would like a change...(everyone here is not a colts and pats fan) I wrote to the Stars and Stripes about this but no luck. Maybe if you guys flood the emails of the ones responsible for what games get aired on AFN they would reconsider( But i think i am just beating a dead horse) Damn i would love to see a Lions game, just for change!!!! Unless my direct tv reciever would work out here...I would have my wife mail it to me!!! I remember back in 2006, AFN showed about 6 skins game that year! ( i think the OIC was a skins fan and ordered them to be aired)
FarEastBeast
2005 in Japan they showed the Redskins nonstop at the end of the year in our playoff run. Good times. You'll appreciate that they show important games if the Redskins are ever good again.

Ruchizzle
I didn't miss one game in Korea last year but I had a cable modem and watched them online. I think it was that website homer.tv or stoogetv. I think they might have been shut down. And yes AFN does blow I am hoping I never have to see it again in my AF career, but I sure do love those commercials!!

HapHaszard
It used to be back in the 60's and 70's all AFRTS (afarts) showed was Redskins games.
str1ck
I feel your pain! I just got back from Afghanistan and I noticed the same thing. There are 4 teams that AFN panders to Steelers, Patriots, Colts and Cowboys. Those teams combined with the AFN commericals that are targeted to special needs Soliders and Sailors that have no home training makes me sick. :logo:
ALLWORLD
AFN tries to divide them up as evenly as possible, the networks have a bit to do with it as well. Also another factor is they try to show the more competitive team since they have researched the potential viewers and found that airing the more "relevant" games is better for pleasing the masses. You can go to their site and they will show what games are to be shown ahead of time. My 3rd trip over I emailed them and that was basically their response. They showed all but I think 3 Skins games so it wasn't that bad. I was so happy to be able to view that season, especially the spectacular 52-7 showing versus the Pats...:doh:
HailRiggoRanger
AFN shows national games. There's no way on God's green earth, they're going to show Redskins-Lions, Redskins-Bucs, Redskins-Panthers, etc... They did show the Redskins-Giants game b/c it was national. NFL has an online package, where you can watch the games. It costs $200+ for the season. Then, there's Slingbox...which is one of the best inventions of all time. ejay183
LoL..those AFN commercials do SUCK!! God lord they are. I dont need to hear about not sexual assaulting women or turning the stove off every 10 minutes. Easily the worst part of being in Japan.
str1ck
For those of you whom have not had the fortune to be deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan . The internet, whether its a private or a government connection is sub 1990's dialup slow. Slingbox, NFL.com it doesn't matter. By the time your game down loaded or buffered you would have already rotated home.

I haven't heard that name in years. I was stationed out at Ramstein in 05 and had the chance to see those great commericials about combat proud. I do miss the holiday one with his barb wired wreath.. frankez99
I spent all of last year in Afghanistan and got to watch 6 Redskins games; I was pleasantly surprised. Made for some sleepless nights though!
