Would the Cowboys be better off *this* year with Harvin/Nicks/Britt vs. Roy Williams

Last season, the Cowboys traded Roy Williams for a first and third round pick with the rationale that Williams would provide more immediate help than any rookie WR would be able to. The Cowboys then signed him to a $9 million/year contract. At the time, I laughed gleefully at the Cowboys for giving up so much for a receiver the caliber of Roy Williams. But I could kind of see where they were coming from, even if didn't agree with the strategy.

Well anyways, Roy Williams was a massive bust for the Cowboys last year. And this season, he's continued to be a disappointment. So now I'm wondering about the Cowboys orginal premise. Is Roy Williams a better option for the Cowboys, right now, than the rookie WR's that were available at the Cowboys' first round pick? Keep in mind that Williams is making 3-4 times as much as any of these other players. Here are there stats for comparison:

Roy Williams: 11 catches, 214 yards, 1 TD

Kenny Britt: 17 catches, 271 yards, 0 TD

Percy Harvin: 14 catches, 167 yards, 3 TD

Hakeem Nicks: 3 catches, 72 yards, 1 TD (missed 2.5 games due to injury)

What are your thoughts?

I think everybody in the world knew Jerruh overpaid for Roy last year.

What's funny is how much the pukes really, really miss TO...and that Jerruh wanted to KEEP him...

How's that Romo sits to pee-friendly stuff working out?

To this point, it has been an absolute failure.

I am clinging to a sliver of hope that somehow Roy will be the Wr that was at Detroit that, at least when he played, was obviously talented.

Right now,Williams has not fit in at all and hasn't messed with the offense or Romo sits to pee. I'm also not sure if it is entirely his fault or Romo sits to pee's.

If I had to do it over, I would take any one of those three Wrs...

I don't blame Roy Williams, I blame Tony Romo sits to pee. Get Roy a real QB, or even a marginally decent one, and watch his numbers go up.

Wow...Romo sits to pee has really fallen. He is not even marginally decent any more...

The saddest part is you actually believe this.

The sad part is that you actually believe that Romo sits to pee will do anything good for the Cowboys except let them down when they need him the most. Tony Romo sits to pee is the Scott Norwood of QB's. :hysterical:

And yes, I am not in a better position to talk, but at least I will admit that JC sucks.

JC has NEVER done ANYTHING.

There is quite a difference...

I don't see it. If JC had a sure thing first ballot HOF at WR, he probably would have put up stats pretty similar to Romo sits to pee's. Just look at Jeff Garcia and Daunte Culpepper.

Really?

What EVER would give you that impression? Its not like Moss hasn't been a probowler and Cooley is chopped meat?

Geez. Maybe if Romo sits to pee had a stud RB like Portis and a #4 defense like JC had and he would have won a palyoff game too.

I realize that JC has thrown his career high of thirteen tds with this cast but how you can make this leap of faith based on one player is beyond me.

That one player has really allowed Trent Edwards to make the next step, hasn't he?

Compared to TO? Yes.

The Cowboys have had a top 10 defense the previous two years. And their rushing game is currently third in the NFL.

There's no leap of faith on my part. Steve Young, Jeff Garcia, and Donovan McNabb all had career-high years when TO was their leading WR. Do you think that was merely a coincidence?

It looks like age may have finally caught up to him. Not even HOFers can outrun time.

The bottom line is yes the cowboys gave up too much to get rw11. They don't use him the way T.O. Was used.Obviously he's not as good as owens...but who really is/was. Randy moss...ok but after that maybe reggie wayne, andre johnson and fitz.He was on the decline and a problem...it was good to get rid of him.You can't just assume any player could fill the void in production..even if rw11 was good in detroit.

Harvin has brett favre and a whole team of awesome players around him...I doubt he's the same player on the cowboys.
