Trade deadline Oct. 20 @4pm EDT - possible trades we could make? (merged)

I think we could get a good return on a Landry trade. We have Horton, Reed, Moore and we can play Smoot back there. Let Barnes and Tryon rotate in Smoots spot.

Fred Taylor may have to have surgury on his ankle... Betts maybe for a low round draft pick?

Im not gonna lie... Id listen to offers for Cooley as well. I love the guy, have his jersey, but I know that he would rake us in something big. He is probably the most desirable player on our team to other teams. Im not saying Id trade him, but if an offer big enough was put on the table, id have to consider it.

We could probably get something for Sellers in a trade as well. Pro Bowl FB. Another low round draft pick more then likely... better then nothing, but in all honesty im looking for a player trade and an O-lineman specifically.

Landry is someone I can see is trading in the offseason. Blache's system doesn't call for or allow Landry to use all his talents so a lesser player could be slipped in there.

In alphabetical order, some possible trades include...

Ladell Betts

-No real value left at this point

Andre Carter

-Just restructured, $14 million cap hit (http://www.thewarpath.net/WarpathRedskinsCap.htm)

Fred Davis

-Not sure what we'd get for him, since he hasn't played much

London Fletcher

-Hell no

Cornelius Griffin

-Just restructured, $5 million cap hit, highly unlikely to get anything for him

Malcolm Kelly

-Again, not likely to get much, and I wouldn't want to give up on him yet

LaRon Landry

-In a slump, but how good is Moore?

Rocky McIntosh

-If they're not gonna re-sign him, then yes.

Santana Moss

-Cap hit of $7 million

Clinton Portis

-Cap hit of $13 million

Casey Rabach

-God, would I love to do this and get the young guys some valuable playing time, but we won't get more than a conditional 7th for him.

Antwaan Randle-El

-Also a cap hit of $13 million with his recent extension. Leave him here and in the slot

Chris Samuels

-No, even if he's older, he's the franchise LT and we have NOBODY to replace him

Mike Sellers

-Just extended him, and not many teams use a FB like Sellers anymore

Fred Smoot

-What would we get for him? Not much unless a team is desparate

Devin Thomas

-No

Randy Thomas

-On IR, doubt we'd get anything for him while he's there.

I'm still in the camp that Collins won't be around forever, and if we could get a mid-round pick (5th or lower realistically) from a team desparate for a veteran QB (either starter or backup), then I'd be all for it.

I would see if we could get Tony Ugoh for our 4th round pick. He is rotting away on the bench in Indy. He is a decent left tackle who we could kick out to the right side. He is also versatile in that he can play guard as well. Furthermore, he is only 25 and can be a part of this team's long-term future.

I admittedly don't know the cap implications in such a move, but ignoring that I would trade Landry if the price was right in a heartbeat. I die a little inside every time I see a blur streaking PAST the ball carrier.

Seriously? Don't know much about Quinn. What's his deal? I mean he can't stay ahead of Derek Anderson how much of a stud can he possibly be?

Quinn looks like a Kyle Boller clone up in Cleveland. He's a bum. If Charlie Wise hadn't gone to Notre Dame he would'nt have been a 1st Rd pick.

What about trading Landry to San Diego for Merriman and a 3rd round draft pick? Would they go for it? Merriman might enjoy coming back this way, and the Chargers could be anxious to deal him. Landry is not soft, but he seems to be underacheiving in our system. We could move Orakpo to the line where he belongs. Horton and Doughty could start. We have Moore as well. What I really like is the 3rd round pick.

I'm completely on-board with the concept of jettisoning some vets and stockpiling draft picks...my list would look like this:

Ladell Betts

Andre Carter

Rock Cartright

Chris Cooley (don't kill me)

Phillip Daniels

London Fletcher

Cornelius Griffin

DeAngelo Hall

LaRon Landry

Santana Moss

Clinton Portis

Casey Rabach

Antwaan Randle-El

Carlos Rogers

Chris Samuels

Mike Sellers

Fred Smoot

Renaldo Wynn

Basically, in order to get good return, you have to offer someone of value. We have many older players that could fill a spot on a contending team and might be worth a future 3rd or 4th round pick. I'm thinking Samuels, Fletcher, Moss, etc. Most of the other guys would be great to get 6th or 7th round picks. Finally, Cooley would hurt, but he and Landry are the best cards we hold right now and if someone offered us something very good for one of them, we'd have to consider it.

The guys I'd want to keep right now are our young pass-catchers, young and cheap secondary players (Doughty, Moore, and Horton), and guys like Rocky who are coming into their own and are still relatively young. I also realize that some guys on my list may be tough to trade given the cap, but I don't know enough to distinguish that.

Can we trade Daniels for a bag of chips? I know he's there to stop the run, but if I have to see another running back nearly break Daniels ankles one more time I'm going to scream. He has ZERO lateral movement, but hey, he can squat a Volkswagen. Time for a complete youth movement and give Jarmon the job full-time.

No way would I consider trading Fletch. You need to keep a VERY PRODUCTIVE veteran leader on the field to lead the young uns.
