halter91
Anyone have them or use them? I have had a pair for a while and I used it with my ipod today at lunch. I took it easy and walked 2 miles. Baby steps, I'm going to walk 2 miles the rest of the week at lunch and maybe step up to running next week. I only get 45 minutes and that doesn't give me much time to change and run so walking is much easier. Plus it's much better then driving to BK or MCD's. Does anyone upload to the Nike website?? bdiamond
I used to use this all time. I didn't have the actual Nike+ shoes but I had bought a small thing that you work in through your shoe laces and it holds the sensor for you. I liked the ease of use of the site, plus its a great way to track your progress or set certain goals for yourself.
halter91
that's a good idea. I never thought of that instead of buying the special shoes.
Corcaigh
PleaseBlitz has done this in the past, I don't know if he still does. The Nike+ device is a small accelerometer. It tracks your pace and distance making assumptions about your foot strike. You may need to calibrate it if you want accurate data and then it may not work well as you transition between running and walking, or soft and hard surfaces. As another poster has said you could attach it via a pouch but it has to be secure otherwise your data will also be messed up. Some people find that tracking the data is motivational. After a while you may be happy enough knowing that you went out for X minutes and therefore you did about Y miles once you know what your walk/run pace is. Sometimes I use a GPS, sometimes I use a watch, and sometimes I just run and get a good enough idea from a clock before and after I run. But it is good to keep a log. If you don't use the Nike+ site, runningahead.com is a good site both for logging workouts and also getting advice.
