You guys are really counting out a turnaround, arent you?

I mean, damn man, since we suck so bad, why not just skip the freakin games and lets go straight to the offseason and fire people, right?! Wrong.

Guys, we're 2-2. Have we looked like **** at times? Yes. But it's no lock we will just throw in the towel. A new offensive consultant comes in, does not mean for sure someone will get fired. What if the offense does indeed get better? Then guess what? This season ain't a wash. Last I checked there are TWELVE GAMES LEFT ON THE SCHEDULE. I think its reasonable to suggest things about the rest of the season at the bye week, but we have 3 weeks till then. Until then, lets see if we can be 4-2 heading into the Philly game.

Hey, that Marty team in 2001 turned around the worst start in NFL history on the strength of a single play (and that team wasn't playing a murderer's row of opponents, either). Think about it - that team was getting ABUSED, AT HOME, down 14-0 in the fourth to a Panther team (with a rookie Chris Weinke @ QB) that would wind up the season at 1-15 (including a nifty 15-game losing streak). If the Panther receiver holds on to the ball, or the ball just merely drops straight to the ground, the Panthers probably put up a FG and SHUT OUT the Redskins 17-0 (if not worse).

But, no, the ball takes a magical hop into Lavar's hands and he takes it back to the house, and the team comes out of its shell and goes on to when 5 in a row. Of course, that team gagged like it just swallowed a chicken bone going down the stretch of that season, but, based on the start, I never would have imagined that it would have been in a position to gag at that point in the season.

The start to that season makes the start to this season look absolutely powerful in comparison. If that team could take life (no matter how it happened), there is certainly hope for this team.

And, hey, they're playing Carolina this Sunday. Maybe fate will strike again? :)

The only time people get flamed on here is when they post an unpopular idea. It's kind of funny too, because most people kind of know it is coming when they post an idea.

For example "Hey i don't want to start a fight, but...." Those threads are laughable because they are goign to post an unpopular idea...and they know what is coming haha

Any thought that we can have a successful season is based on blind faith. We have shown nothing over the last 12 games other than a few drives a game that give any indication that we are on the cusp of turning things around. Is there a chance? Sure, just like there's a chance the Lions will win 8 games this year. But you can't blame folks for looking at the rest of our schedule and concluding that we're screwed for this year. Doesn't mean those of us who think that way aren't going to watch the games and root for the team as hard as ever, we're just walking into it with eyes open and realistic expectations.

The marty team also changed QB's. Not saying anything about JC at all. So don't go there. Just pointing out a fact.

We are in the softest part of our schedule and looked like doo-doo

The team is not improving.

It pains me to count out a turnaround, but I don't see any reason nor evidence given as to why the results should be different with the schedule getting harder after 2 weeks

The NFL is simply a week to week league.

Example

a) in 2005, we manage to lose to the Raiders at home, win 9-7 over the Bears, lost 36-0 at the Giants. After each of those games, no reason to think we could have an offensive turnaround. Did it happen? Yes.

B) 2008 Eagles. Tied the Bengals, got embarassed by the Ravens. Team in disarray. What happens? NFC Championship game.

I would have put the 2007 Redskins but most would point to a QB change, which won't happen this year.

You're about to get flamed just like me. They don't take kindly to us who hold out hope.

Personally, I think it's fine AND fair to have hope in an individual season.

This team *can* play some good football, sometimes when you think you can count this team out, they play at their best. We've seen it many times.

But to build and grow, year after year, to improve significantly and maintain that improvement? That hasn't happened. That's where a guiding hand from the FO is necessary, something that we haven't had.

This season, the biggest personnel risk we're probably going to run is with the OL. Hopefully Rinehart will step up and play well throughout the season, and we won't deal with any more serious injuries (last year Samuels was gutting it out through serious pain from week 8 onwards because of what he saw in our depth). I doubt both of those things happen, and I think we're probably going to end up ill-equipped (again) this year. That's just my prediction without bias (which is what most folks here strive to do at times, predict without fan-based bias).

But we all hope!

2005

1) I actually thought we had a chance to go 14-2. The team demonstrated before those pathetic losses you mentioned that it did have the ability to a) dominate inferior competition (the 49ers game) and B) put up points and look like an NFL team

This team has done neither for the past 12 games. The 2005 team beats the Rams/Lions/Bucs by 14 points each

2) The Eagles have been a winning organization this decade, with a coach that has won, and players that have won. To even put us in the same category as them is laughable

And looking at how strong the NFC is this year..do you see a turnaround turning into a playoff visit?

Vikings, Saints, Giants, Eagles, San Francisco, and Atlanta are looking like the playoff teams right now.

Chicago and Green Bay have not sold anybody. I think we are right on their level. We don't have any reason to think this season is over.

Even in the real rankings, we're at 10 of 16 right now. Next week, we could be on pace for a wild card. So really, I don't want to hear all this crying. Who knows, maybe we'll be on pace for more later, maybe we'll be on pace for less. There is zero reason to give up hope now.

Eh.

In an individual season, there can be a spark. If you believe this team *can* play with most of the other teams, personnel-wise (I don't think we're better, but I think we can play), then they may just need a spark or a change in some of the schemes. It can happen.

We could be better, personnel-wise. And we could be much better at sustaining/improving from season to season. At least for me, those two issues are the heaviest indictment of the FO.

Won WHAT?!? Isn't the NFL about Super Bowls?

Plus, we have won THREE of the last FOUR against the Eagles.

Your negativity is LAUGHABLE.

Not me. I'm hoping for a complete dumpster fire of a season to hopefully get this owner to see he needs to step aside and let someone else run this team

Good for us.

How many division titles do we have this decade?

Playoff appearances? Playoff wins? 10 win seasons?

Compare that to what Andy Reid/D Mac and the Iggles have done this decade

Please enlighten me on those convenient facts

I'd rather win one super bowl than choke in 50 NFC championship games.

Enlighten me on how many super bowls their organization has.....EVER.

The Eagles had ONE more win than us last year, so please, I don't want to hear about them being the "class of the NFC" anymore. I heard plenty of it at college. The Eagles are perennial chokers.

Hey me too. Which is why this year is pretty much a bust. Do you see a Superbowl team on the field for the Washington Redskins? Do you see this team competing for the Superbowl next season or the season after?

Ah nevermind, I saw your talent "evaluation" in another thread which was horrible.

I will sig bet you at this point that our team wins no more then 7 games. Loser wears a sig picked by the winner until the start of FA, which is our Superbowl.

And I really do hope I look like an idiot and you win this sig bet

I'm not counting on a turnaround that gets us into the playoffs.

I'm counting on a turnaround that makes us respectable.

A turnaround that saves Zorn's job and the future of the Redskins along with it.

Imo we're a few RZ playcalls away from being 3-1.
