With the recent hire of Sherm Lewis as offensive consultant, I am surprised that no one is talking about the timing of it.

Eli Manning is dealing with heel issues; Tony "No Show" is looking like a broke version of Jason Campbell and The Eagles will soon have to make a decision on who the hot thrower should be.

I see The Redskins prematurely creeping back into this tight race.

Until the Giants lose a game there is no race. Even without Eli this weekend the Giants are going to beat the Raiders. I don't picture us beating a rested Carolina Panthers team desperate for a win this week. I love the optimism but I think we need to tamper expectations until the week after when the Chiefs come to town

I like the optimism, but you are REACHING hard.

What is Sherman Lewis going to do? At the end of the day, the QB throws, the WRs catch, and the defense makes the tackles.

The Giants are dominant. I wouldn't expect this to be a big issue for Eli.

The Cowboys are still a good team and playing better than the 'Skins.

The Eagles having to chose between two QBs that are/were playing well is not an issue.

The Redskins have not shown anything on the field for any optimism.

The only thing that will shape up well for Redskins fans is that Dallas might not win 8 games this year.

Other than that, it's more of the same from the Skins.

They can't get out of their own way, what makes you think they are going to magically learn how to score overnight?

playing the way the skins are who are they going to beat? seriously.

i can see them beating the chiefs and the raiders; maybe the panthers, if delhomme throws picks (and they have to actually catch those bad throws for a change). unless something drasticly changes, we're not going to beat anyone in our division. even if they split the division, which i highly doubt, that has their record at 8-8... that isn't getting them in the playoffs.

atlanta, denver, new orleans, and san diego far outclass the skins, as does everyone in the division.

a new set of eyes isn't going to change much, especially with JZ calling the plays and JC trying to execute them.

the entire organization needs to be turned out. new "GM", new coaches, new scouts (really a major issue, imo), new players in just about every key position. something's rotten in denmark, and you can't change that with a pine tree air-freshener hanging from the rearview mirror. it's not surprising that that's the strategy danny is taking; he's still focused on looking in said rearview mirror at the three lombardi's this once great organization earned.

NO ... for the following reasons ...

- our offensive line personnel are not suited to a WCO style ... and are either old and brittle, or under-performing youngsters who would struggle being backups elsewhere ...

- our "skill position" players ... save for Cooley ... are not suited for a WCO style ... we have no speed back in the backfield, and our receiving corp is inadequate ... or incompetent ... or both

- our coaching on the offensive side of the ball is sub-standard ... to be kind

- the management level of this team is a clueless collection of egomaniacs, more interested in squeezing every last $$ from the dwindling fan base ... and continue to trot out the same tired, lame-***** excuses year after year ...

- the Defensive Coordinator is so full of himself ... and his "scheme" ... that we continue to waste young talent in poorly designed defensive concepts ... I'm "Old School" ... give me Richie Petitbon back, please

So, NO, until this organization has a collective "Come to Jesus" epiphany ... and either commits to a scheme and brings in the proper talent to execute it ... or has a Staff who can modify whatever scheme they want to run to the talents of the players already here ... it doesn't matter what division we're in ... nothing shapes up favorably for the Redskins ...

Let's see ... only a game and a half out of second place. Next two opponents haven't won a game... but next winless team is favored ... then a streak of six games against teams with a combined record of 22-4... no, I wouldn't call that an ideal situation.

The Skins have struggled against three of the worst teams in football. This team is a mess. If Sherm Lewis is going to revamp the offense, why not just make him HC and put JZ out of his misery?

Guess we have to give you dream points. Pretty far out scenario you got there.

Yes. Why not? It's only 4 games in and they have plenty of time to come together and get better and better each week. Let's face it, they can't get that much worse than they are.

They have?! Really? Zorn, is that you?

It's the exact opposite: they've gotten worse. The opening game against the Giants was the best game they've played (and they didn't play well).

What makes you say they're getting better? The 2 point win over the Rams (who have lost their other games by a combined score of 82 points). The 3 point win over the horrible Bucs (and 4 turnovers mind you) or the 5 point loss to the woeful Lions (giving up scoring drives of 99, 86 and 75 yards)?
