21cents
HOLDING ON The 10 quarterbacks who have held the ball the longest on their sacks Quarterback Average Time Of Sack No. of Sacks Jason Campbell 3.66 3 Tom Brady 3.6 1 Jay Cutler 3.51 3 Mark Sanchez 3.51 2 Brady Quinn 3.29 9 Kyle Orton 3.27 3 Trent Edwards 3.26 6 JaMarcus Russell 3.22 3 Chad Pennington 3.2 6 Kurt Warner 3.07 3 http://nfl.fanhouse.com/2009/09/23/which-quarterbacks-hold-the-ball-too-long/ So campbell does hold the ball a little long. But so do the two guys redskins wanted to trade for cutler and sanchez so they would be no upgrade over campbell. Also note Tom Brady has always had some of the best pass blocking so if he were to play here in washington he would be average.
Ghost of
Also note Tom Brady has always had some of the best pass blocking so if he were to play here in washington he would be average. Problem is that it only measures sacks, not hits, hurries or total holding---the sacks could be for totally different reasons. As for Tom Brady, he has NOT always had great pass blocking--that's always been a lie, typically to excuse OUR QBs, rather than face the fact that QBs play a role. C26 Run
Aaron Rogers should be one here too :helmet:
JeepRyder
Wow where is Big Ben haha. That dude holds it for a good 5 mins before throwing it.

gkekoa
The difference is those guys make plays while holding it to long.
Thinking Skins
This was done September 23rd. Thats quite insufficient to give any amount of data. Tom Brady's being judged based on one sack? C'mon? Campbell has 3 sacks on that list. How about doing it over all of last year?
terrifNick21
The difference is those guys make plays while holding it to long. Really? What plays have Russell, Edwards, Pennington, and Quinn made?
GhostofSparta
Wow where is Big Ben haha. That dude holds it for a good 5 mins before throwing it. Yeah, where the hell is Roethlisberger? lol I get to watch the Steelers all the time up here, so I can answer that one. Big Ben isn't on the list because he's actually have to get rid of the ball at some point for it to count. Thus far tho his average would be up to about 10 minutes and 12 seconds
Gibbs Hog Heaven
Personally, I don't care what other QB's may or may not do. There's only one name on that list who concerns me, and his continued problems are well documented, however we try to lesson them by putting him up against someone else. Hail. Buck812
I cant even remember Campbell ever having nearly 4 seconds to throw the ball. Must be because hes stronger than the rest and it takes them an extra second to get him down after hes in the DL grasp. lol

MumboSauce
Yeah the first player I thought of was Big Ben...but then reasoned it out.... he's is a big dude and hard to bring down, he extends plays all the time and more often than not makes a great throw and avoids the sack. SonnyJ
I thought there were several instances in last night's game where Aaron Rodgers could have gotten rid of the ball but kept holding onto it. If you got Jared Allen coming after you like you smacked his kid, it's probably wise to throw the ball sooner than later. :2cents:
RenegadeTK
well, at least in the last game JC tucked it and ran when necessary.... progress
SkinsFTW
I'm anti-Campbell but I know that this stat really doesn't mean much of anything. All it says is that on the 3 plays he was sacked he had enough time to get rid of the ball. The OL did their job on those 3 plays. Who knows about the other 30 pass plays but evidently since JC didn't get sacked on those other plays they did well enough on those. Like Brady takes 3.6 seconds to throw on 90% of his passes. No way. Maybe the one play he was sacked they just had good coverage out there and he took a sack.

TheItalianStallion
The difference is those guys make plays while holding it to long. Then who was it that bought time with their feet and found Cooley downfield? Who was it who scrambled on multiple 3rd & longs, converting them to firsts?
