posse87
I watched Mike Tomlin yesterday before the 1-2 Pittsburgh Steelers took the field against the SD Chargers. Right before he finished the interview he said one thing that really struck me: "We need to be prepared to play the entire sixty minutes or longer if necessary." As I have been watching the redskins this season, I have seen periods where the offense moves the ball fluidly and with ease and periods where the defense is a shut down D, but the "team" has yet to put together 60 minutes of consistent play. Is this the difference between good and bad teams and good and great teams? I can't say for certain, but if the Redskins can put together consistent games with 60 mintues of concentrated football play, they can turn the season around and most definitely compete for a playoff spot and beyond. ntotoro
I think even Forest Gump could see that was true. The 'Skins haven't played 60 minutes of football in single game in a few years. There are a couple dozen teams saying "if we could do this, we'd win more often." Only a few teams are strong enough to actually do it and that starts from the FO on down. There has to be a culture among the Coaches that instills discipline in the players.
posse87
She's from Greenbowl Alabama!!!! Just call me simple. I think on the steelers is starts with Tomlin and their blue collar mentality. If Zorn can really focus the team and get them playing inspried consistent football, they can start winning. I have seen nothing to suggest the team can't do it. There are a lot of new parts still learning to play together and developing chemistry, but I wouldn't expect anything other than an insult to start a realistic semipositive thread out. Thanks for your tremendous insight there.
BigMike21
Yeah and then right after he said that the Steelers played for a good 35 minutes.....
posse87
Yeah and then right after he said that the Steelers played for a good 35 minutes..... Certainly, the steelers at 2-2 are not a perfect team, but if the coach can get his team to adopt that mentality at some point during the season, last seed wild card teams can go on to win the superbowl. scstand
why is a Tomlin thread in the stadium?
posse87
why is a Tomlin thread in the stadium? Because it is about the redskins using a philosophy/quote by Tomlin.
