Doc Walker is fired up

Always enjoy listening to Doc Walker because he clearly lives and dies with the team and does a good job voicing his frustrations. Here's a clip from Redskins Insider where he starts out calm, but by the end of the segment, he's ranting and venting about how the Redskins have no 'gimmes' and if you can't score, you can't win, etc.

How come it only seems like EX players are fired up about this team?

I think a few current players are, but the problem is the whole team isn't frustrated. I think alot of that has to do with Zorn trying to keep everyone "medium". They don't see the coach getting angry and frustrated, so they don't care either. Zorn needs to take control or this could get ugly.

Because the old players understood "TEAM PLAY" and Dedication! That was one of the great things the skins always had! Those guys had (like the movie) Miles and Miles of HEART! That made up for lack of talent very often! It is also one of the reasons I have been a fan of the skins since the very early 70's. How can you not cheer for a bunch of rough and tumble guys giving it everything they have all the time! You get caught up in their passion for their team spirit and love of the game!

Sherman Smith has something interesting things too say about building a team. If Synder wants too build the Skins, be patient. See, we want this. But then a lot fans turn around and want Zorn fired. The Skins are 1-2. Suck it up. Yes, it sucks. I don't like it. If you are a Skins fan, stick with them.

I'm sure Zorn is angry and frustrated. He just doesn't show it. Zorn doesn't have to yell and scream. The players know they aren't playing well. These are grown damn men. Yelling isn't going to turn it around.

Ok, but how is he building them? A 'building team' doesn't invest that much money in a couple of defensive free agents. A 'building team' isn't the oldest team in the league. And, a 'building team' sets realistic expectations.

I agree with all of this. I would say though, that we're probably not ACTUALLY the oldest team in the league where it really counts.

We have Collins, Albright, Daniels, and Wynn who really bump that age average up pretty high.

Because they didn't have to work for Snyder and the dysfunctional, corrosive atmosphere he's created since he's been owner.

It starts at the top, folks.

This is a good point. I'm sure current employees of this organization are scared to say anything in public.

True. But a majority of the main contributors are likely on the downside of their careers.

Snyder has taken a Darwinian approach to management:

Only the strong survive.

By strong, I mean those who are more "fit" to thrive in the environment he's created at Redskins Park. These would be those who either fully buy in to the propaganda or are more than happy to suck up to the owner the way he insists it be done.

- If only today's players acted and played like the old school players....

None of the old school players will come around because they can't stand the FO. What better way to be inspired then to have the greats come around by being involved with this team. There's no sense of pride, tradition or history with this team anymore. They're playing uninspired football.

If you're a part of the team though...you HAVE to stay medium in September!!

I prefer this approach to hearing Leslie Shepherd in 1998 repeatedly refer to each loss as "rock bottom" until we finally beat the Giants.

Whooooa, Leslie Sheppard name drop. Way-back machine. Having major flashbacks to a time when things were probably even worse than they are this week.

Yes...but if your glass is half full, hopefully we have some replacements in the pipeline.

I realize that our core is probably done here (Portis, Moss, Randle-El, etc.) but I'm hoping that the next generation can lead us.

Ideally though, I'm hoping for a complete overhaul.
