myzhi
D is giving up 16.3 points/game. 6th best in NFL. While, O is averaging 13.3 points/game. 28th in the league. 28>6. Higher is better right...

Nash614
Our offense has given our defense no chance. 6 Points scored in the first half, total. Our offense is obviously partially responsible for the situation we're in, but when you let the Lions offense have multiple 80+ yard drives, you really gotta put more of the blame on the defense. It's kind of scary to think that we've got to deal with offenses that are completely better in the upcoming weeks.

Yep.. you let the Lions go 99, 95 and 94 yards on consecutive drives you have a problem. Especially when they are running down our throats and eating up the whole first half of the game. Burgold
Our offense has given our defense no chance. 6 Points scored in the first half, total. Frankly, our defense isn't giving our offense a chance. They're not letting our o on the field. Our O started with a nice time consuming drive that took the Lions to the 1 yard line. The D then allowed 90 yard drive after 90 yard drive. They don't stop anyone. That's unacceptable. You can't let the Lions and Rams drive on you like they're the Patriots with Brady. Yay! We kept them out of the endzone kind of, but we allowed them 20 plus minutes of posession in the first half. Don't go on one stat. Our D is killing us. Our O is merely inept. Tay
Our Defensive statistics are deceitful. The Defense is not getting the Offense the ball. They clearly do not play to win every play. Teams are consistantly sustaining drives against us. Here are some telling statistics: We are 26th in Time of Possession. Our Offense is 8th in yards per play. Our Defense is DEAD LAST in third down percentage against. These stats show our D must step up.

JustAfan47
The Lions also went like 10/18 on 3rd down?....geezzzz yes OP your right our D is the problem....Stick with the title.
SkinsFTW
We are 26th in Time of Possession. Our Offense is 8th in yards per play. Our Defense is DEAD LAST in third down percentage against. And we've scored 6 total points on offense in the first half of 3 games. Against garbage defenses. NY has a great DL that got no pressure on Campbell and we scored 0 on their 2nd string backfield. Our defense would be great if we score 14 points in the first half of games. We don't and them holding the other team to almost no points is never taken advantage of. If we lead they can attack, we never lead. Also, knowing that your offense is an actual threat take the handcuffs off the bend but not break defense. Look at how we ended 05 and 07. We scored points, magically our defense got a ton of sacks and turnovers. Our defense has give up 13, 7, and 13 to 16 to the Lions. Those are hard to match by our offense? BTW, the Lions punted 6 times to our 5.
Burgold
You can't be serious, FTW? You think we have a great defense? We have one of the worst bend but don't break defenses of all time. We made the Rams and Lions look like polished offensive juggernauts.
Operations
D is a problem, of course. But O is a much bigger problem for us and has been for YEARS!!!!

Our D is ranked DEAD last in the NFL for 3rd down Cmp. 22/43 51% cmp rate..Our D is ranked 7th in the NFL with time of possession with 32 mins a game....put the two together and you can see our D can't get them selfs off the field.....The Lions went on 3 consecutive scoring drives of 99,74, and 86 yards!! corn_beef_n_rice
i think the D is major problem. seems like we're losing the TOP battle, meaning the offense has a limited number of snaps to build some momentum and kick field goals in the 1st half of the giants and lions game, you hear zorn say we only had a X amount of plays on offense they have generated more TOs and qb pressure than last year, but they can't stop a stop sign
SonnyJ
The offense is allowed to hold onto the ball themselves. It's in the rulebook. I'm not going to defend the defensive performance, but any problems on the team pale in comparison to the fact that the team struggles mightily to score points. This is the problem that needs to be solved before any other problem. Because, if it isn't, the team is still going to struggle in every game. MintHillSkinsFan
Or how about this? We have a perfect storm of suckage. Offense and defense are both horrible, and special teams are average to below average.

Old Bay
An offense that can move the ball but can't score, a defense that doesn't give up a lot of points but bends worse than a willow tree in a wind storm. We made the Rams and Lions look like polished offensive juggernauts. What's wrong with bend don't break when your D isn't giving up many points? It's all about points! You sound like the JC people who say he had 240 yards and a TD. Whoooo. Big deal. POINTS are what we need. Not yards and good QB ratings. Our D asks very little of the offense. "Score 20 points." Is that really so damn much to ask? No it's not.
skinsfan1523
Another stupid thread. Why can't people just admit that both the D and the O sucks. It's not one or another they are both horrible. The D can't get off the field on 3rd downs, even when it's third and long against the putrid lions and Rams. The O can't sustain a drive because of stupid bone headed mistakes that have been going on for years. It seems like when was is working the other one can't do anything, all signs of a bad team. I don't care how many points they give up, they were trashed yesterday by the lions and were lucky the score wasn't even worse.
Brandon Lloyd Christmas
while the D isnt playing well, if the offense could do ANYTHING itd make the D look 10x better. the O is the major issue here, but the D is getting no help. sometimes i think the D is just so POed because they know how terrible our offense is and they put so much pressure on themselves to seriously try and pitch shutouts because our offense is that terrible. bubba9497
Our offense has given our defense no chance. 6 Points scored in the first half, total. Vice Versa the defense's failures to stop teams on third down (NFL WORSE), and let them control the clock...is the biggest problem so far. Red zone problems a close second. But the offense is moving the ball they are 8th in yards per play, 13th in total offense.
