Sandman69
I'm boggled by this. How long have we been screaming about the corner cushion? How often do some posters tell us that we need to swallow whatever the coaches tell us, seeing as the coaches know way more than we do? To me, seems like we got this one right. Maybe Zorn just recently joined ES? :whoknows:
Ashburn Dave
Music to my ears. There's always different ways to deliver a message. Let's just hope that we see tight coverage Sunday.
MrJL
I'm pretty sure that at the very least, Carlos Rogers did a lot of press last year. It was written in a lot of articles during the season that press coverage was being used a lot more in our D and that guys like Smoot had to step up and be able to play that way. we had four different starting corners last year and even our backups ended up switched around. What we played tend to depend on who was in the game if I remember right.
Spear
It's the mentality that London Fletcher was talking about. Instead of letting our guys battle and win match-ups, the coaches feel like they have to give them as much help as possible. It's like coddling children. It sends the message to the players that they aren't good enough to handle the Giants and that they need to be protected to be successful. It fosters mediocrity, instead of challenging players to step up their game. Look at any good team and you see mediocre players being trusted to play sound football and rewarding that confidence with solid production. It's how a Corey Webster can shut down a Santana Moss. (I know he had safety help, but he obviously didn't need it very often).
NewCliche21
Glad to hear Zorn acting like a headcoach instead of the coach of the offense. Blache needs his ego placed under control. It's very nice to see that Zorn may have balls other than the ones he throws at Campbell during practices.
scskin
While we're at it let's talk about our blitzes. We ALWAYS show them too early. The quarterback will step back and call an audible every time. If I know it's a blitz they know it's a blitz. Have we ever used an overload on one side like other teams do? Never to my knowlege have we done that.
RandyHolt
Playing aggressive wont destroy our D. other teams do it gets tons of sack and turnovers and trips to the super bowl. Coddling does lead to mediocrity. Look at our D on paper. Let them play ball. Sure we will get burned deep, but we will destroy the QB force turnovers and control our own destiny more than hoping they miss a FG every time they get the ball. Zorn, run the team. That includes the defense.
