RandyHolt
Daniels was slow as molasses. He was out there on many so called passing downs. Regardless, the Giants passed on first down when they saw slow phil in the game. We did exactly what they thought we would do. We eased off on the corners, so they pass it. Exactly what I would do as an opposition OC, see Daniels and run wide or pass; and isolate Rak in coverage and see how good a DE does. The problem with this experiment is teams pass on first down, our pass rush was pathetic again. A sack/FF was actually a facemask. I know everyone laughed when PD had contain. Great job played his spot the RB ended up right there. And Phil Daniels was completely embarrassed. Why do we even bother putting him in contain? everyone that touches the ball on offense schools him there. I think Blache protected Rak in coverage by going zone. Protect him more by letting him use his god given talents to rush the QB. I figured he would draw at least 2 holding penalties. Daniels got all his snaps during passes. Our defense is predictable and it starts with OLD school thinking that 1st down is a passing down. Get with the 2009 program Blache. Stop bending over to opponents. XxSpearheadxX
Don't tell Blache that. He's a genius in his own mind. I've never seen someone get so angry or defensive when he's questioned about the biggest problem with his Defense, then still does nothing about it. We have the talent and ability now, but Blache likes to stand on the sidelines with his bifocals and have the best DE in the draft starting a position he knows nothing about and is obviously ineffective. Those are obiviously readers, not bifocals. But yea I feel you big time.
LoudMouth12thMan
Where was any number of rookie LB/DE in their first game of their rookie season? Not an apologist but the guy is going to have to adjust. He played sound I thought. He'll have some highlight moments I'm sure. I'm hoping he progresses each week, contributes at LB, and wreaks havoc on the D line as the year goes on.
MumboSauce
Once he gets a better feel for it and gets comfortable, he'll roll. There is an adjustment period...especially in his case when he's being asked to do something he didn't routinely do.
thinker
One game - against one of the best offensive lines in the NFL with the best power rb in the NFL and one the smartest coaching staffs in the NFL and people are ready to make ANY conclusion about Orakpo? Seriously, people need to be a tad more patient.
GoCommiesGo
I still can't for the life of me figure out why you draft the best pass rushing DE in the draft and convert them to a entirely new position. It's just seems so asinine to me. As someone else said the amount of zone we played had to be partially to help cover up Orakpo in coverage.
