How many more times do we have to see Moss totally shutdown?(merged)

I don't think its moss, I bet if MOss went to a team like the pats or Saints he would have huge numbers. But if Zorn contiues to run WR screens or the crap play calling we all saw today, it doesn't really matte what WR the redskins have.

This is the truth. There are plenty of WRs in the league with much less talent than Moss (we saw 4 yesterday) who are productive. It's because they play on better offenses with better quarterbacks. Hakeem Nicks, Steve Smith, Dominick Hixon, and Mario Manningham are not better wideouts than Santana Moss.

Moss did not have catches because he runs routes deeper than 10 yards, and we don't complete, or even routinely attempt those. We saw ARE and Cooley pick up a bunch of yards because they ran 6 yard slants, curls, and crossing routes all day. These are the routes that our QB can connect on.

I think you guys are on the wrong guy. At least with Brunell, Moss was guaranteed some WELL-DESIGNED screen plays and Brunell threw deep to Moss and trusted himself to throw to the sidelines.

The reason Cooley and ARE rack up yards in the middle of the field is because that's all Campbell sees or trusts.

It's kind of why Brunell always made our second wideout disappear or why Campbell made McCardell and others disappear in 2007. They rely on one or two guys because inferior QBs do that, especially ones that can't see some part of the field.

So we could have Jerry Rice out there, it wouldn't matter. ARt Monk, Jerry Rice and ARE in the slot and Cooley at TE.

With campbell at QB, ARE and Cooley would still rack up yards. ARt Monk and Rice would languish with a combined 80 catches at best.

At least Collins used everyone.

If you weren't a Campbell hater, I'd kiss you for that :D. But, you are pretty much on point with everything.

Top ten Redskins myths:

1. Moss is a bonafide #1

2. Clinton has NOT lost a step

3. Landry is a top 10 Safety

Get used to it.

:applause: I believe I detested before in a thread that Chris Horton was a better well-rounded Safety than Landry is.

We need to find ways to get Moss open. If the other team is going to double him, we need to find a way to get the ball in his hands or get the ball to the open WRs. I mean Malcom Kelly had what, 1 catch? Cooley and El so a nice amount of passes come their way, but we need to spread the ball around more. Use Moss, Cooley, Kelly, ARE, Thomas, Davis, Ports, Sellers, etc. All of our plays go to either Portis, Cooley, Moss, or ARE.

it will happen again and again until someone proves they are a real threat at the #2 WR spot.

I have been hard on Thomas and Kelly, and although Kelly showed some signs yesterday-like the nice blocking on Portis' first run- the fact remains that if Moss was getting doubled with a CB & S, then Kelly should have been left alone in single coverage. A true #2 WR should be able to get some separation and make some plays when most of the focus is on the #1.

Needless to say, this did not happen yesterday, so as of right now, we still do not have a #2 WR.

We are making it easy for Defenses to shut us down by having Moss as the only real receiving threat.

First of all I really like the way that our offensive line protected Campbell against that Giants DLine.

That D line is probably the best one that we're gonna play against all year, the oline gave enough time for campbell to throw the ball most of the game however campbell held on to the ball too long on some plays.

Santana Moss got SHUT DOWN by corey webster.I think that this team needs a true #1 receiver ,As much as I like santana I dont think that he is a true #1 receiver and is not getting any younger.

Jason Campbell is a Good QB..The guy has another 15 games to prove the doubters wrong and he will..I have faith in the guy, he showed poise in the pocket, accuracy (exept on the long balls) and arm strength yesterday.

Hopefully one of the young guys steps and fills the role of a #1 receiver.

Again I was impressed with offensive line and the time they gave JC in the pocket..

HAIL TO SKINS!

I have to agree with you to a point but even the announcers said that the Redskins receivers were running free but Campbell never threw it to them. Sanatana Moss isn't a legitimate #1 anymore. He got shutdown by COREY "*#*%ing WEBSTER! This guy gets beat like a drum by other top receivers and Santana Moss can't even get open against him. Zorn is a terrible play caller against the very good defensive teams and he doesn't trust Campbell. It looks like a trend has developed. Campbell has never been trusted fully in any offense that he has been in since coming in the league and there has to be a reason for this. If zorn is to kep his job he needs to either trust him or put in Todd Collins so he can keep his job because allowing him to fail without giving him a chance is career suicide. So you can put a positive spin on the game but until they learn how to play football they will continue to get the same old results.

If JC plays like crap the next couple of weeks against some poor competition, then he have a lot less than 15 games to prove himself.

Not to change the subject, but I see everyone ripping on Tana and very few sending praise to ARE.

Randle El played a GREAT game from the slot. I have a feeling he's going to be our top receiver this year. However, I agree with one of the above posters that we could use both Santana and ARE in the slot at times. It would really open things up for both of them.

I know Marko Mitchell isn't proven, but he's shown more than Devin Thomas has in two years. If we have to throw him and Kelly out on the field as the outside receivers and let Santana and ARE play the slots in a doubles formation.

I have a feeling Mr. Mitchell is going to start getting more playing time very soon.

We kept hearing how Malcolm Kelly won the 2nd receiver job, yet he only got one ball thrown his way. I kept seeing Devin Thomas in there alot though, like they were purposely trying to get him into the game. So far, I'm not very impressed with Thomas. And one thing Ive really taken notice of is that he never comes back for the ball. This is gonna cost us many interceptions down the road if he doesn't correct this.

The Giants kept there best man on Santana, so why didn't we exploit there weeker corners more, throwing to Kelly? Poor game planning if you ask me.

JC had plenty of time to throw yesterday. Eli took more hits than he did.

Just one game and hopefully things will change, but once again JC did not spread the ball around. No matter the system or coach, this has been a problem. And you can't blame it all on a perceived "lack of weapons."

JC also threw the ball deep only once even though Moss and Zorn both said several deep shots were called.

Again, just one game. If the line gives JC time like it did yesterday, things will either click or Collins will be under center.

2. Corey Webster, New York Giants

Season Totals: 66 attempts, 3.92 YPA, 65.15 Forced INC%, 1 TD, 3 INTs

My two cents: Did Corey Webster seriously not make the Pro Bowl? I have come to terms with the Pro Bowl being absolutely meaningless, but that is just ridiculous. There wasn’t an NFC CB to even come close to the level on which Webster played. He led all CBs with a 3.92 YPA, and a 65.15 forced incompletion percentage. The only TD he allowed was to Terrell Owens in a week nine victory.

... and I've been beaten to the punch.

I'm going to jump on board for Corey Webster. He proved yesterday to me, now that I got to watch him, that he is elite. The thing is...he only covers one side of the field. We should have used Moss over there and looked the other way. We also should have put Moss in motion because Webster is a physical corner and was jamming him on the line.

This falls on Zorn.

Oline played well.

The other WRs weren't even looked at frequently. This goes to JC.

Very impressed with the Oline pass pro. Very impressed how ARE forgot about the first bone head play and stepped up. Cooley did well and almost lost a couple, but forgivable. I'm not a play calling expert so I don't know for sure, but we have got to continue to throw the ball as much as possible and then open up the run. Moss got shut down.

on JC int Moss Ran a bull**** route...it looked like he was still playing pee wee league football

I agree with a lot thats been said on here (Moss not a no. 1, someone else needing to step up, other targets and running game open it up for Moss, Campbell not throwing it down field enough) and I want to believe Moss is an elite receiver, but every time I see him run a route it just seems like his heart is not in it. They don't show his routes on TV every play, but the few they showed on Sunday, I had the same impression every time, especially on the pick and on another deep ball.
