SkinsHokieFan
Saw quite a few Redskins jerseys down there Interesting crowd, 99.999 percent were normal people that I had no trouble talking to. Of course there were the kooks and jackasses, and many people amused me quite a bit (lots of unintentional comedy) but nonetheless not the "astroturf" type crowd that the left has been trying to label this as. My rough guess (I got down there at 7:45 am) is at the peak, around 1-2 pm (i left at 1:45) there may have been 100k people. Right up near the Capitol it certainly felt like quite a few people as it was densely packed. Couldn't hear the speakers worth a damn, took a bunch of pictures and held up a banner. Quite interesting

SkinsHokieFan
I would have really loved to attend. jealous actually!any pics by chance? Was there a c4l group there? Didn't see a C4L group but I am sure they were there I'll post pictures later today. I am just too tired and I am watching the VT-Marshall game on ESPN360 right now The crowd I would say was 85 percent focused on spending. I'd say a good chunk were "mad at both parties" (there were enough signs to indicate that this was a sizable minority) and then you had your kooks and dumbasses. A few signs of support for Joe Wilson. But the vast majority had to do with "cut spending" "reduce the deficit" "don't bankrupt my child" etc etc

SnyderShrugged
I'm reading huge differences in the attendance numbers from various sources. I'm seeing everything from 200k to 2m? Judging from your post, the 200k might be more accurate.

@DCGoldPants
Lots of cool signs with Nazi symbols referring to the Admin and Dems. A few signs about killing Healthcare along with Kennedy. Some about getting your guns ready for the militia. A handful there surprised because they were expecting to see the Wiggles.
Tulane Skins Fan
I was down there for another event, actually I had to be in the Ronald Reagan building. Couple things that I noted. First, it was pretty funny watching everybody desperately ask to come into the government owned Ronald Reagan building and use a public restroom while wearing anti-spending shirts. Second, most of the people were normal. But not 99%. A lot of the signs were outrageous, and inciteful. If you have a sign that says "Congress, are you corrupt or just stupid," you are a kook. I understand the principle trying to be conveyed, for smaller government, but even those type of signs just look hyperbolic. Finally, the thing that really stood out to me in regards to the crowd was the makeup was either senior citizens or middle class. Its amazing to me how angry the middle class gets about taxes on the upper class. I don't really understand it. Frankly, if you were a true "everyone should do what's best for them, and nature will work out," then a lot of these people should not have been there. Anyway, I thought the large majority of them were regular people. I think there's a legitimate concern and a legitimate protest. I think too large a percentage of the people are too outrageous though.

Judging from your post, the 200k might be more accurate. 2 million is a joke. There were people in the crowd saying "the DC police estimates 1.2 million, now 1.5 million!" The number kept going up as the afternoon went along I am guessing 100k. If the low sources say 200k, then its probably 200k, but I am saying 100k. Tulane Skins Fan
me too What percentage of these tea party protestors do you think would agree with you?j Another thing that crossed my mind (as I read a sign that said "I'm pro-America, Pro-military" which made no sense to me if you're for small government).... Is there any doubt that if McCain had been elected we'd be in a 100 billion dollar a year war in Iran right now?
Madison Redskin
Wish they were protests when Bush and the republican congress passed medicare part D. Most people don't even know what that is, even though it will cost between $500,000,000,000 and $700,000,000,000 over the next 10 years.

Lol. That UVA education comes out for you How about this. I stood in one spot for about 3 hours with a banner, and encountered maybe 3-4 complete kooks. Based on my anecdotal, standing in one spot where a large majority of people passed, it was "normal" middle class white people from places like Mississippi and New Jersey, and Washington State
