MumboSauce
I heard about it but hadn't seen the photo. The attention he gets from his play on the field isn't enough I suppose.

Ghost of
Terrelle Pryor of OSU also had "Mike Vick" on his eye black. Call it a form of....solidarity and understand that unless Mike Vick raped children, cut their genitals off, ate them and then burned down the White House (only if it's Obama, though) that certain players will feel he needs a second chance or that people were too tough on him and outwardly demonstrate their support...oh, also you wouldn't see this if Vick were homosexual. Larry Brown #43
I don't get this. What are people trying to prove? He's been reinstated. What more do you want? What does parading around in a Vick jersey accomplish, and what point does it make? He has a new team and a new contract. What is there to feel sorry for? You almost get the feeling that some people want to glorify what Vick did, which would be really disgusting. I can't think of any other reason for this kind of show of support. It's not like he's still trying to convince the commissioner to let him back into the league.

Thats like a Skin wearing a Cowboy jersey. Most fans fail to realize that these guys aren't heavy into rivalries as the fans. Most players are friends and just show support of one another. praise_gibbs
Steelers/Eagles is that big of a rivalry? I'd imagine it would be similar to that of Ravens/Redskins. More territorial than anything else.
DeMarco Murray 29
Steelers/Eagles is that big of a rivalry? Similar to Baltimore - Washington. Cross town rivals.
G.A.C.O.L.B.
Well there is just 40 miles between DC and Bmore. It's 300 some miles between Pittsburgh and Philly. That's like from here to Charlotte. DC is closer to Pittsburgh than Philly is and closer to Philly than Pittsburgh is. Almost by half. I don't know. I know it's the same state but I just never heard that they were rivals.
Stophovr6
My friend is a steelers fan. He hardly cares about what the eagles do and doesn't consider it a rivalry the same way I don't see a rivalry with the Ravens. Now if Holmes was wearing a Ravens jersey, there might be some issues. This has more to do with the player than the team jersey.

G.A.C.O.L.B.
Question: Were the Cowboys and Oilers rivals back in the day? Texans haven't been around long enough so I'm not counting them. I'm not trying to make a point. I'm generally curious if they were cause I don't know.

The Eagles and Steelers probably only meet up for a meaningful game every four years or so. And by meaningful I mean regular season.

They already hate each other, so why keep it quarantined between sports? As a Redskins fan I hate NY, Dallas, and Philly fans. As a Wiz fan I hate Cleveland, Miami, and Chicago fans. So do you think I care about the Mavs or even the Knicks or the 76ers? Or the Browns, Dolphins, and Bears? No. There is a difference between city rivalries and team rivalries. I think Baltimore is a ****hole, but I don't care about the Ravens.

Thats like a Skin wearing a Cowboy jersey. Most fans fail to realize that these guys aren't heavy into rivalries as the fans. Most players are friends and just show support of one another. I get that. That wasn't my point. I don't understand why ANYONE would want to make a statement by wearing a Vick jersey, let alone a player from another team. My point was, what statement are you making by wearing a Vick jersey? Are you glorifying what he did? He's already been reinstated, so clearly you're not lobbying for his reinstatement. So what's the message one is sending by wearing a Vick jersey? That's what I don't get.
Ghost of
I explained it LB#43. Put it this way: How many white athletes have donned a Vick jersey, spoken out strongly in the media on his behalf or put Vick on their eye black or on their jerseys? And keep in mind, a lot of white athletes are from the South and may have seen ****fighting and dogfighting.
