NavyDave
Talked about their supplemental pick and his speed as well as size. Mentioned that Mike Wiliams weighs 354 pounds
Madison Redskin
Wow. Impressive. I laughed at our signing of MWilliams a few months back. Hopefully, I'll be laughing at MWilliams bowling guys over on the football field.

That's great no matter how you slice it. If he happens to make an impact on our team, that's just awesome!
Adam291
Wow, 354. So in a year, he basically lost 100 lbs? We know Big Mike is dedicated, so now all we need is for his play to match that. Hurry up, football season! Anyone know when we'll see Jarmon show up at the Redskins facility?
RunClintonRun26
Seriously the Skins have actually had a very good off-season . . . I am in complete shock here. Obviously the news of Jarmon is wonderful - as I mentioned in the other thread, the young man has a world of potential and for a 3rd round pick (when he would've gone in the second in this April's draft) he could be a steal. But what adds to this news is the fact that Mike Williams is down to 354lbs. Picking up Williams as a free agent for a next to nothing contract, it is a low risk, EXTREMELY high reward signing. He definitely has the talent to play . . . and the desire is seemingly there considering how rigorous his off-season conditioning has gone . . . So theoretically, we could have YOUNG depth on the defensive line (drafting Orakpo and now Jarmon), we have added experienced depth (Daniels, which I consider an addition because he didnt play last year and Wynn), a starting Left Gaurd in Dockery, the most dominating Defensive Tackle in the game, and we are hopefully taking the red shirts off of Thomas, Davis, and Kelly . . .and may have even solved our Right Tackle problem . . . Maybe . . . Just Maybe . . . The Skins have gotten their act together. And this isn't counting guys like Barnes (who I think will have a decent year), hopefully solving the kicking and punting situation . . . etc. WOW. Exciting isn't it? Soup
As usual the defense looks great on paper. With all the money they have poured into the defense I'd expect no less than a top 5 defense. I would have liked to see some of the money go into a better OLine but I'm very excited to see what the defense will be able to do this year. Considering the trend is that dominant D overpowers dominant O (look at last year's competing teams: Baltimore, Tennessee, Pittsburgh, etc.), I would prefer to be skewed on this side of things. Also, our defense is getting increasingly younger, so we are buying our offense time to catch up just enough to make us dangerous. We don't need 25+ from our O to win. Awesome offseason, nothing to crazy just smart moves that fill major needs. And Vinny showed some creativity with Williams.

All the consistently good teams are using defense and solid special teams to flip the field. I think Pittsburgh was 19th in total offense last year.I keep forgetting that we have upgraded at punter and at least we have some competition at kicker. I only hope you're right, I would hate to see all this hype and money just turn into fuel for the rest of the NFC east fans to arm themselves with. I have huge expectation with the defense. The way they are built I expect them to carry the team in every game.

He could be a pleasent surprise to this roster. As much as I'd like to see Heyer turn into this stud RT I still have my doubts if he as the "mean streak" to be consistant in this league. Hooper
After a decade of ignoring the d-line, we are finally addressing it. No complaints there. Williams is a nice story right now. Thing is, he was pretty much a bust at any any weight. I still think Bridges might be the guy who wins the job.
MWCREDSKINS
I know it's early but I really like this move today. 3rd rounder for a DE with a lot of potential is well worth it. Now I really want them to focus on O Line next year. Hopefully we won't have to worry about QB

I have huge expectation with the defense. The way they are built I expect them to carry the team in every game. I'm not overly concerned with what opposing teams' fans will arm themselves with. If we win, they will shut up. If we lose (no matter how) they'll find something to say. I couldn't care less. What I do care about is the methodical and resourceful ways that the front office has addressed 2 weaknesses (punter and DL/LB) this off-season. We've added a solid, veteran punter and 2 young DL and one young hybrid LB/DL. We've also added a younger OL to replace an aging, solid vet (Kendall). Also, I'm not sure I agree with any "hype" since this has been a relatively quiet off-season for the Redskins. We're going into year 2 of Zorn's offense with most of the same players. Logically that should equal some improvement. Add that to an improved defense (which was top-5 last year) and I don't see how you can't agree with the direction of this team. Of course I agree with the direction of this team, I never said I didn't. I hope that its doesn't become yet another fruitless year, which leads to yet another dimantle and another new system being implemented.
NavyDave
People are forgetting that we should have a healthy Griffin lined up next to Haynesworth and Griffin used to deal with double teams. With both of them healthy the middle of the defense with Fletcher behind them should be outstanding

With both of them healthy the middle of the defense with Fletcher behind them should be outstanding I've been saying that for a while when people complain about Griff. For Griff to be successful he needs to be able to shoot the gap like the 3 tech DT that he is and not eat doubles all day. That has worn down his body and been the cause of his injuries. Now with Al next to him, defenses need to pick their poison when it comes to the middle of the d-line.

Fred Jones
It's great to see Williams get back into shape. At 354 he is lighter than when he played in Buffalo. He will be in the 340's by the end of the training camp. He has had plenty of time to get himself back in shape. If he stays healthy he should be able to finish getting into game shape by the end of training camp. My problem is his time off from football. You can't just walk back in and expect to pick it up. But, I am exited to see his progress.
