Jesus Saves... Fact or Fiction?

This thread was not (the underline that Larry made popular ;)) made with intent to create consternation between I and those that are avid believers.

I have been seeing alot of these stickers on vehicle bumpers and want to know what equivalence this has on one's life?

Is this just for show of a "Good Christian" or is there more behind the proverbial phrase?

Change that logo from ice to wine, and it's more or less accurate. :)

In any case, WhoRUSupposed2Be, if you really want to know...

The Bible teaches that God can't abide the presence of sin, being perfect, and that all of us have sinned. Thus, without intercession, we will all be seperated fro, God when we die (Hell). Jesus died for us, and if we accept that free gift, we go to Heaven. Thus, Jesus "saves" those that believe from Hell.

As for whether that's a fact or not, I say yes. It's a fact.

Hopefully, anyone with a "Jesus Saves" bumper sticker, has better judgement in their every day walk with God than they do in choosing decorations for their vehicle.

I really can't think of a positive connotation that can be gleaned from a message on your car's bumper.

Fact, he loves some change.

Fiction. Matthew 6:19 (ESV)

19(A) "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where(B) moth and rust[a] destroy and where thieves© break in and steal,

so I guess, no, he doesn't save. :D

Is this just for show

Yes. Yes it is. And very ironic considering Jesus's specific instruction on the matter.

The stickers do serve a purpose though... makes it easier to determine which people you never want to deal with.

Very narrow minded statement if you ask me. How do you know a well respected poster like Zguy or techboy don't have a Jesus saves sticker on the back of their cars?

All I have seen is generosity from both of them.

I'm not a big fan of "bumper sticker Christianity" either, actually.

Well I would ask, whats the purpose of having one? ARe you hoping to save someone going down the interstate at 65 mph? Or is it just something people use to claim some type of moral high ground and establish themselves as above everyone else in traffic at that moment?

It's similar to whistling or cat-calling a blond while driving by. Are you really hoping to pick her up? Or is it just an arrogant, inconsiderate, degrading thing to do?

Matthew, Chapter 6:

Be careful not to do your 'acts of righteousness' before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.

2"So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. 3But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

5"And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men
