erock353
I figure Yahoo!Sports is somewhat of a big news site, so what the heck. Pretty solid rankings in my opinion. Pimp26
Pay no attention to these ratings. Of there judges, the highest rating given to our defense is 11th. Weren't we 4th last year and added the Defensive MVP?

stickyshooZ
baffling that devin thomas is on the list I didn't even look at the list. I figured they'd have Moss (I'm just guessing) but Thomas hasn't even come close to proving himself at the NFL level. That baffles me.

Going Commando
Who knew that Drew Brees was the best QB in the NFL and that Aaron Rodgers was 4th best. Also Tony Romo sits to pee, Matt Schaub, Matt Ryan, and Jay Cutler are all apparently better than Ben Roethlisberger despite his two rings and them never having won a playoff game between them. These lists are awful and they give no explanation of their system.
rmill11
the 11th ranking for D was absolutely rediculous. the only reason I can see is its solely based on fantasy points and for that I could see what they mean. I mean, the skins really didnt have a great turnover rate so that contributes to not as many points
Conn
I think the reason that these ratings seem so off to everyone is that they are not power rankings, or even legit rankings at all, they are fantasy rankings, for who should score the most fantasy points this coming season. Hence players like Calvin Johnson and Aaron Rogers being so high: They put up big numbers. Hence Devin Thomas being on the list at all after such a lackluster rookie season: One of the contributers thinks he's worth the risk of taking in a fantasy draft because he thinks that he'll put up respectable numbers as the Skins only other deep threat this season. When looked at in the "fantasy" light, these ranking make more sense, I think. Even our defense so low makes a little more sense, as they are not traditionally a unit that scores points or turnovers, which is what counts in fantasy, not the dirty, ugly way that our D usually does its job. I think that our D, fantasy-wise, will surprise this season, but in general its understandable, looking at our recent history, to be out of the top ten on a fantasy list. kubstix
The Clinton Portis rating is just complete stupidity. Even if they are ranking by fantasy......CP got me a boatload of points last year pretty consistently.

Wyvern
LOL, Campbell's ranked 23!! He'd have been ranked 24, but one writer didn't give Flacco any points , so Campbell squeaked ahead into the 23rd slot. Hopefully Campbell uses these types of dismal ratings as motivation for a better performance in 2009.

This is for fantasy purposes only, which would degrade Campbell further. Even the 1st half of last season, when he was being super-efficient and ranked near the top 5 in QB rating, he wasn't even top 10 in fantasy because he didn't have many 300-yd, 3 TD type performances. Keep the fantasy side of it in mind for these rankings.

dellman
Who knew that Drew Brees was the best QB in the NFL and that Aaron Rodgers was 4th best. Also Tony Romo sits to pee, Matt Schaub, Matt Ryan, and Jay Cutler are all apparently better than Ben Roethlisberger despite his two rings and them never having won a playoff game between them. These lists are awful and they give no explanation of their system. According to YOUR definition Big Ben is better than Peyton Manning or Dan Marino because he has more rings. In fact according to your definition, Trent Dilfer is better than Dan Marino because Dilfer won a ring. How many rings a QB wears around his finger is insignificant to his ability and his performance as a regular season QB. A defense can get a TEAM to the playoffs and into the Superbowl. Sometimes a running back and offensive line can do the same thing. A QB can be a leader and sometimes a Joe Montana can make a big play which gets featured on a highlight reel for centuries, but just because he does and wins the game 17-10, doesn't mean HE won the game because one TD or one good play doesn't win a game. ONE player doesn't even win or lose a game. So don't give me this crap, because thats what it is...a load of crap....that Ben or anybody else is a great QB because of a ring he wears around his finger. Show me his regular season stats, and if he has average stats and above average playoff appearances, I'll show you a team with a great defense and probably above average turnovers and special teams.
