brunell
PFT on NBC I think Florio is certainly on to something here; remains to be seen if it's true.
SkinsNoles21
ok so all florio said here is fluff .... Its up to Campbell to prove he belongs as a starter in this league. No ****. Its up to Brennan to prove in pre-season and in practice or wherever he gets his opportunities. No ****.

Brandon Lloyd Christmas
all speculation but it seems pretty clear. front office is obviously over campbell, and everyone knows it. brennan seems to think hes going to play a lot during the preseason because hes the last young hope we have as a potential QB, and if he'll need to be ready if the team makes the decision to yank campbell. i did like what colt said about the first four defenses being a good test. seems like he wants to prove it to himself and everyone that he can play. Dan T.
I'm glad to see Colt is taking this preseason so seriously. A quarterback who has to fight to prove he belongs in the league performs better. But I disagree with Florio's notion that Campbell is on a short leash and will get yanked early in the season. It's just not going to happen - mainly because he's a decent quarterback and far from the incompetent QB that the hyperventilating masses have made him out to be. Dan T.
Putting Colt in a regular season game scares me. I have a feeling the guy will get eaten alive. I have exactly the opposite feeling. I sense he's first and foremost a football player and would be unfazed by being thrust into the fray of a regular season NFL game.
DTN Redskin
Why is this speculation? The FO clearly doesn't trust JC. If he comes through great but he's almost the guy they got stuck with. People need to man up boy and quit being such a ***** about Campbell. If he's successful great we'll sustain him. If not throw Brennan into the fire and see what's he got. Our FO holds allegiance to no one accept some weird fool named Clinton Portis.

Blackest Eyes
I'm excited to see Colt in the pre-season. I am still rooting for Jason to be our franchise QB, but having a good backup is always reassuring.
wwSEANd
seems kinda weird to expect Campbell to be pulled and Brennan to excel. Campbell is a good-to-very-good QB when the o-line holds up (see: first half of 2008 season). if he does poorly next season, you can bet the o-line is playing worse... ...and what does Brennan play like when his o-line is outmatched? just watch his senior year bowl game. that's not a knock on him, either- no one can be a good qb behind a terrible line, so if Campbell doesn't, Brennan won't either. Soup
Well finally Florio makes some sense, but this is common knowledge. I believe both Qbs and the coach will be one the hot. I think we all have seen what campbell can do and Zorn WILL put in Colt to save his job basically. Colt will then have to be the superstar everyone wants him to be or ride the bench again b/c next season There are great Coaches out there and they will want one of those three talented QBs coming out of college. I don't think they will want colt on the team or at least they will not want him to start. This season will be another waste of a good running game and top 10 defense yet again. Hopefully I'm wrong. That he did poorly in that game is a myth. The fact is that despite having absolutely NO TIME to get off passes, he made the most of his limited opportunities in that game. Go ahead and pull up Youtube highlights of that game. He completed passes with D lineman about to slam him to the ground. He dumped off efficiently and found secondary receivers in the face of a fierce rush. I laugh at idiots who point to that one game as evidence that Brennan is not an NFL-ready quarterback. That game showed that he IS an NFL quarterback.

Colt is a prototype for the WCO. IF Zorn stays Colt will be fine, if Shanny comes in, and Colts does well in 2009, he might get a chance then again this is Snyder we are talking about so it really depends how much of a sample size we'll get to see in 2009 if it happens at all. I hope you're wrong, too.

Especially if Zorn is struggling to hang onto his job (unless the other rumor is true and he was specifically brought in to coach Campbell - then it's Campbell most, if not all, of the way)

One thing I worry about though. That Colt is a good quality QB and we get rid of him, maybe not the hall of famer everyone wants but what if he becomes a Matt Hasselbeck, Tony Romo sits to pee, Philip Rivers, Drew Brees, etc... What if they get rid of him and he becomes a quality QB that can lead a team to the superbowl, that's my main worry. I hope that Colt just lights it up during the preseason to put some more heat under campbell. If Colt puts up the same numbers as last preseason Zorn will be hounded about putting Colt in. Either way, I just hope the team doesn't end up with a bad season. I really hate going through those 5-11 / 6-10 seasons.

The seasons where you sustain hope throughout the entire year, live and die by each game, only to have your team come up a game or two short of the playoffs/division. Those seasons are more disappointing than the 5-11, 6-10 beatdowns.
