James Thrash has been released

I hope this means we've been impressed by our youth and talent at WR. I honestly thought we'd be leaning more towards teh PUP list.

I really think this had more to do with his injury. As much as I'd love to be wrong about that, he's an older player with a neck injury...so it was probably a logical decision to make if he wasn't going to retire.

Now, maybe just him not being on the roster will give the young WRs more opportunities to develop and impress this season!

He's been a good player for us, but it has become time to move on. He's still pretty good on special teams, but he wasn't able to contribute much as a WR anymore and with the injury and all the young players we have in camp, there wasn't going to be much room for him anymore.

I wish him good health and I do hope it isn't the end of his career.

Wow. I knew this was coming, but I expected him to retire and not be straight up released. Either way...

Thank you James Thrash for allowing redskins fans to enjoy your incredible work ethic and hustle for so many years. If everyone on the team work as hard as you we'd win the super bowl every year. Above all else, thanks for representing the Redskins and their fans their fans as a true class act.

Snyder :

"It is our hope that he will continue a long-term relationship with our organization.”

Zorn :

"we are confident that James will be involved in some capacity within the Redskins organization.”

:applause:

WR coach would be nice. In fact, I'd be elated if he started today.

Said it all in the previous thread on Thrash, so I'll just say a short "Thank you James for all the total dedication you gave to the cause for nigh on a decade. That, and the dignified way you always carried yourself, will always ensure you a warm reception from those of us of a burgundy and gold persuasion. In the words of the great man, you've been a 'core Redskin', in EVERY sense of the word. Good luck in your future endeavours, wherever, and whatever, they may be."

Hail.

Thrash was one guy you could always count on giving it everything he had on every play. He was one of the most dedicated players we had, even during the low points of the last decade, on and off the field. I'm going to miss him, knowing he'd do whatever he could for the team and the community. I'll always be a fan of the player and the man. His playing days might be over but he's still a great human being.

Thanks James, for everything, and good luck. I, like many others here, hope you return to the team to coach WRs or something. You'd be a great life-long Redskin, but either way, we'll always remember you as one. Good luck!

James Thrash had (has) a quiet swagger of confidence about himself in his pursuit of the game we all love. He will always stand out in my reflections of him as the silent example of professionalism.

Best of luck, James Thrash.

I would appreciate it if you could clear something up for me. You have been quoted saying that James Thrash "is a terrible wide receiver". So, why do you want him to be our WR's coach?

Thrash and Jansen were classy guys, and they were actually a couple of my favorite players. Well, except whenever Gibbs would use Thrash as the sole WR on one-WR set plays or when then sent him long for the deep pass that usually never ever resulted in a completion.

With that said, they had to go and I'm glad they're gone.
