hahaha i was just thinking this exact same thing...

i get on AIM VERY rarely. and usually not for more than 5 minutes when i do.

Sometimes i FB chat...

i use gchat with a few work buddies or other working professional friends. But only when im at work and im not logged on all day

i found less of a need to constantly talk to people as i grew older lol

One of my larger clients wanted me to use AIM.

I downloaded it and then spent the next hour taking all of the junk it gave me off my system.

I told the client I have a phone for this purpose.

I will never again use the official AIM crap again. I installed it on my vista computer and it really did a number to screw it up including making it so I had no sound. Now, I use Pidgin which is free, open-source, multi-platform, and zero advertisements. It communicates with AIM, MSN, google chat, yahoo, and a dozen other instant message clients.

I haven't used an official AIM client in like 5 years. DeadAIM, Trillian, and now Pidgin. I will never go back to using basic AIM. I love that I can have AIM, GChat, and Facebook all open in the same Pidgin window.

Junk you chose to install when you didn't deselect the box. :silly:

Not quite true.

Either way, there are a handful of great multiplatform chat clients. Gaim/Pidgin is good, but I've been using Digsby (beta) and have really enjoyed it. Granted, I only use it for AIM but it works good, looks good, and isn't all bulky like some other clients are (ie: Trillian when I tried it years ago).

When I was in middle school and used old school AOL I remember someone said a/s/l to me in a chat room and I had no ****ing clue why they kept typing that!!!! haha

ugh, I remember when trying to play anything on yahoo games or the like and the chatrooms were full of "a/s/l?" and cyber-sex

I stopped using it last year. I then connected my AIM account to my cell phone. One night I was bombarded with texts because a friend thought it would be funny to send me jibberish. **** that is annoying and if you've ever done that to someone, you suck and I hate you.
