d0ublestr0ker0ll
how anyone voted madonna is beyond me. best singer? really? Madonna rocks, man. I'm not judging her on American Idol voice-control talent as much as how kick-ass she was and how much she showed her melons.
d0ublestr0ker0ll
DMB should be on this list. Or just the name of their drummer.

I'd probably kill myself if I had to listen to an hour of Samantha Fox. Hootie, perhaps for popularity reasons, yes I agree they should be on here. Although talk about being able to play a pop band's songs after one semester of 5th grade music class.

Ya, it's hard to find male football-crazy dudes that like the actual music of female pop artists. I like her attitude and the fact that she wants to screw all the time. I blast Madonna in the car and get funny looks, then I just think about her cones.

It'd probably be fun to an all female singer/band thread. I tend to listen to the women when I want to mellow out. There are some great ones out there with beautiful voices like Loreena McKennit who probably wouldn't fit anywhere on these lists. Mind you, these lists are the worse for not having Janice Joplin or the Supremes/Pips and stuff like that and even though I'm not a big Cher, Streisand, Midler person... they certainly have their place and had talent. I think we could generate an excellent list of at least 30-50 important/excellent/fun female musician/artists.
GoSkins561
Come on give Pearl Jam some love people, no should they be behind Green Day! Just strange to see Chili Peppers, Pearl Jam, then Madonna. Pearl Jam opened for the Chilis, nuff said. I think Pearl Jam was decent but Blood Sugar Sex Magic is an incredible album.

Dave Matthews is in a completely different league than Hootie. I would put Hootie in the "one hit wonder" variety.

Joplin, Ann Wilson, Patti LaBelle, Karen Carpenter. Hell, Tina Weymouth from the Talking Heads is one of my favorite bass players to watch and listen to. Was always comfortable listening to female artists with my friends around. They'd laugh at me and say "wtf" like it wasn't cool to listen to. But as an unbiased listener, I'd hear things that Ike and Tina would do that'd make Blink 182 want to pierce their lips again.
BKSkinsFan
I agree DMB should be on here. I'd also make a case for Stone Temple Pilots and where's the Phish???

Totally agree. Some real great ones. I even like several that I'm not supposed to like Tori Amos, great lyric writer and interesting songs for the most part. Old Dominion Monarch 06
That list is funnier than Zach Galifanakis live at the purple onion......and that ****'s HILARIOUS. My vote goes to Nina Persson and The Cardigans. and honestly, anyone who things that Oasis even REMOTELY sounded like The Beatles in any way needs to seriously clean their ears out. There are HARDLY, if any at all, any musical similarities between Oasis's modern alternative pop sound and The Beatles 60's pop/psych pop sound. Really. In fact those bands differ greatly in other areas as well, like attitude. Just because they wanted to be, and pretty much were at the time, Britain's biggest thing, doesn't mean they're like The Beatles at all...whether they cited them as a heavy influence, or they flat out tried to be like them. They just weren't, at all.
Blackest Eyes
Radiohead, Tool, Madonna, Dr. Dre and the Pumpkins. I think more people have been influenced by these groups then many of the others.

It's because 90% of the people on this forum think rap is all "guns, drugs, violence", there I'm educated on the genre. But I know my man BigMike knows what's good.
