Larry
Larry, you sound like your father's son. I really, really hope that wasn't your idea of a smart *** way of using my Father's condition at this stage in his life as a way to ridicule both me and him. Dan T.
I really, really hope that wasn't your idea of a smart *** way of using my Father's condition at this stage in his life as a way to ridicule both me and him. Not at all Larry. I got from your anecdote that he's kind of a cantankerous character and stubborn in his ways. That's how I see you in these threads. And in a good way, mostly. I should have explained that more in my other post. My apologies for you misinterpreting that. I've read a bit about what you're going through with your mom too, and I can empathize. So again, sorry for not being clearer.

RammsteinSkins
BTW, when he tells the operator to phone my brother in Portland, Oregon? Then it's 3 bucks to dial the phone and 2 bucks a minute for long distance. ------- And, just for some more chuckles, he doesn't like to use the "nurse call" button. (I think he has trouble finding it.) Instead, he picks up the phone, dials "0", tells the operator to dial the nursing home, gets the front desk, and tells the front desk to connect him to the nurse's station. No doubt the staff thinks this is as funny as I do. :rotflmao:Can he not talk? I mean it would take less time. Tell him that and see if just yells nurse! I hope I end up in an assisted living. I could have so much fun, I could scream like I'm in so much pain and they would come running and think I'm having a heart attack and I'd say I spilled my pudding :hysterical:

Larry
I hope I end up in an assisted living. I could have so much fun, I could scream like I'm in so much pain and they would come running and think I'm having a heart attack and I'd say I spilled my pudding :hysterical: Before Dad wound up there, my experience with nursing homes was that I'd repaired the computers in several of them. (Therefore, I'd been to about a dozen, and spent a few hours in the business office of each. Many of them on multiple occasions.) And the one Dad's in has been the only one I've ever set foot in that didn't have a woman, somewhere in the nursing home, yelling "Somebody HELP me!", every 15 seconds, for the entire time I was there, every single time I was there. My opinion of nursing homes is that I support assisted suicide.
twa
My opinion of nursing homes is that I support assisted suicide. Yep..but the idea they would come running is amusing though. Even the well run ones are terrible places.
TK
I keep thinking that, in an ideal world, I could call my county DA, file a complaint, and let the DA handle it from there. (Hell, if I were a DA, I'd love prosecuting telemarketers. Can you think of a better way to guarantee my job security?) I was going to say the Attorney General's Office. SkinnedAussie
Hang on, they call you, then ask you to leave your # with an answering machine? If they haven't already got your #, how did they ring you in the first place?

HailGreen28
ya know.... thats a good question.I bet they do it so they can claim that you willingly gave them your phone number, thus they can legally call you. Nevermind their call to you was illegal in the first place.
McD5
Leave your name and phone number. When they call back, act interested, and go through with their scam. If it is investment related, hopefully stock market related, agree to buy a good amount of a volatile stock, promising to send the check today, and then stiff them. Once they purchase it for you, they own it. If it drops, they lose. If it is not stock market related, still go through with their scam, and set up a meeting in person, promising them hundreds of thousands of dollars. Tell them to meet you somewhere far away at a specific time, then don't show. If this is too much for you, please pm me, and I will do it with my name and phone number. Nevermind their call to you was illegal in the first place. That's what I'd assume, too. Just like I'm certain that, if prosecuted, they'll swear that their first call wasn't a solicitation call, that they were calling to "inform" me of what a wonderful offer they had.
