Peregrine
Cap space is something that, unlike rollover minutes, you can't save and then use the next season(though you can do something like that with incentives). So if we are going to have 10 million in unused space this season, and we know it, it makes sense for us to use as much of it as possible, while still leaving some emergency space. That way we save having to pay an extra 7 million over other years of the contract when we would like to use that money to maybe sign another player. Outlaw Torn
An extended run of uncapped years would be good for our team's success since the Dan grows Ben Franklins in an undisclosed location. However, my opinion is that it would be bad for the league as a whole, which is why I am hoping for a new CBA. :hysterical::hysterical:@ Danny growin the benjamins and yeah i think it would be bad for the league to cause then it turns into the haves vs. the have nots and we will see mostly the same teams in the post-season every year. The good thing is that we would be one of them though
TD_washingtonredskins
Since 2010 MIGHT be uncapped and we can only add 30% to the 2009 salary, wouldn't it be to our advantage to have as high a 2009 salary as possible in order to clear out as much of the contract as we can in 2010? This gives us the chance to eat up a big chunk of their contracts in the first two years so we're not hamstrung 4 or 5 years down the road. The good thing is that we would be one of them though I imagine it as a lot like when Cheech & Chong were growing herb under all those tarps and such. So who do we all think the haves are? Obviously Washington and Dallas are locks. Who else is rolling in enough dough to make noise if we go uncapped?
Est.1974
I'm under the impression that contracts cannot be redone twice in one year, or within the same year the original contract was signed. No link to back this up as fast but I remember reading it. I think this article suggests they can be on veteran contracts. However, I have no idea if this article is factually correct / can be trusted to support my theory http://www.askthecommish.com/salarycap/faq.asp Quote : "The first renegotiation of a veteran contract can take place at any time. However, a veteran may not renegotiate to raise his salary for twelve months after the most recent renegotiation. Additionally, no player or team can agree to renegotiate a term of a previously signed contract for a prior year. No contract can be negotiated for a current season after the last regular season game. Furthermore, rookie contracts cannot be renegotiated for one year after the signing date or the following August 1, whichever is later."
