WP: Colt Brennan Doesn't Respect the Draft

Vernon Gholston- 6th overall pick

5 year/50 mil, $21 mil guaranteed.

Jerod Mayo - 10th overall

5 Year/18.9 mil, 13.8 mil guaranteed.

Gholston is looking like a bust, Mayo making 1/3 of his money and was rookie of the year. And this is just 4 picks difference.

Someone like Horton comes in, doesn't make jack, and plays better than some of the top 10 players.

you make a good point about Gholston. He didn't even start. The 6th pick of the draft? Thats ridiculous. And thats the kind of stuff that can happen. It happens every year. Robert Gallery, 2nd pick on of the 2004 draft, is now a bum.

What exactly would you have the CB " lovers" supposed to do with this hot, juicy tidbit:silly:? Storm Redskins Park and demand that the F.O trade him because of his PERSONAL views? Honestly I'm wasting 10 minutes that I'll never get back for some bull****. But if it helps you or the W Po out then it's worth it.

This would actually be a story IF Colt had said this about one of teammmates, the F.O,the coaches or the Redskins fans.

The NFL draft should be more like the NBA top 10 draft. That is much more resonable especially if the guy doenst pan out.

Damn, he sounds pissed about going in the 6th round.

But I love this quote from him, "I think what's more important is what happens after the draft. That's what I care about."

AWESOME!

I agree, that shows he thinks his potential is great and he believes it was a mistake for him to fall so far. You just have to love his attitude and anger about getting picked so late. Give Colt the chance in preseason!!!

The way we have been going after Qbs this year I think Colt will get a great shot in pre-season if we dont draft Sanchez. If we dont draft Sanchez I would love to see us do what the Cowboys did with Romo sits to pee and throw Colt in for 1 entire game with a good portion of it being with starters. The way Danny has wanted Cutler and now Sanchez one would think he would like to see what Colt can do.

I feel the same way. If it was as good as advertised, every pick in the first three rounds would be first-year starters. The fact that there ARE busts proves Colt's point. It's an overrated crapshoot.

Outside of media hype, it's the same as the MLB draft...lots of players drafted, plenty of rounds, and more misses than hits.

I watch the draft every year, but he's right it is kind of a joke. They'll be people picked on the Saturday that will get 30 mil in guranteed money that will never amount to jack in the NFL. Then you'll have guys picked in the late rounds or not picked at all that will become superstars. It wouldn't be so bad if the NFL would get a freakin clue and institute a rookie pay scale. Atleast then teams could make an educated decision when giving these guys huge contracts. The way it is now its no different than playing roulette.

I bet if he went #1 overall he would feel differently.

That is his point.

The guy has always been a winner on the field. He was coached by Bob Johnson the same guy that coached Carson Palmer and Mark Sanchez. If Colt went to USC he would have the same hype as Sanchez.

Say, for a moment, we draft Sanchez. Do you see any way Colt sticks around? I mean, the kind of money and picks we'd be laying out for Sanchez, Colt would know there's no way he would ever get a legitimate shot.

That is a much better scenario than sitting behind JC. If we draft Sanchez and trade JC, Colt will have a legtimate chance to start.

For a 6th rd pick, competing against a rookie who played 1 year of college ball is the most he could ask for. If we had Cutler or Leftwitch, he would have no chance to start barring injury.

Having too much talent at the QB position ala the 49ers when they had Joe Montana and Steve Young is a blessing not a curse. Let the competition begin.

I do get your point though. If Zorn doesn't think that Colt will ever be good enough to start it does speak volumes. However I don't think its fair to say that Zorn would think that way simply because we drafted Sanchez (if we did). It wouldn't signify the end of Colt in B&G, but it would signify the end of Campbell soup here

No GM or coach is ever going to put faith in a 6th rd pick before he has taken a regular season snap. If we do draft Sanchez and trade JC, it actually speaks volumes about how they feel about Colt.

Sorry. You lost me. What is it saying about Colt? My bad, but I don't follow.
