Bills likely not done dealing

Friday, April 17, 2009

The trade of Jason Peters doesn't put the Buffalo Bills in the market for a left tackle. Langston Walker will move from right tackle to the left side of the line that Peters is being shipped to Philadelphia.

With their first pick (No. 11), the Bills are expected to select a defensive player, most likely a pass-rusher or linebacker, in the upcoming NFL draft. With the No. 28 pick, they can zero in on right tackle candidates.

Don't think that the Bills are done with trades. They continue to shop wide receiver Roscoe Parrish, and a natural fit for him would be the Redskins. Ideally, the Bills would like to get a fourth-round pick for Parrish, but the odds favor them receiving a fifth-rounder. Expect something to get done with Parrish either before or during the draft.

he's a speedster, and a PUNT RETURNER

Depending how the new wedge rule plays out, there certainly is some potential upside to that. It would certainly render rock a little less useful but..

Still, this seems to be completely unsubstantiated.

ESPN Roscoe Parrish

2008 Scouting Report - Scouts Inc.

Grade: 66 | Key

Alert: None

Comment: Parrish is an undersized third-year player with excellent athleticism. He has been used primarily as a No. 3 or No. 4 receiver and return specialist. He has outstanding quickness and burst in space and can be dangerous after the catch. He has turned short, underneath patterns into big plays with elusive moves on the second level. He is quicker than he is fast, but has enough speed to run away from defenders. He has excellent lateral quickness and foot agility to be a solid route runner. Parrish is best in the slot to because he is less apt to be rerouted off the line of scrimmage. He is an instinctive player who can convert routes versus disguising coverages. He can find voids in zone-coverage and understands how to get separation versus man schemes. He is a competitive player, but his lack of size hinders his effectiveness as a blocker. Parrish has good hands to make tough receptions away from his body. He has been an effective punt retuner showing good vision and elusiveness to hit a crease. He doesn't have the overall package to be a starting receiver in the league, but has enough talent to be a solid target and a core special team's contributor.

If we could get arguably the top punt returner in the league (#1 in yards per return among regular punt returners in both 2007 and 2008), guy who can also return kicks and chip in 20-30 catches a year for a couple of TDs, for a 5th rounder, why wouldn't we jump on that? ARE averaged 6.5 freaking yards per return last year; over the last 2 years Parrish has averaged right about 16 yards per punt return. Wouldn't you guys like to see the Skins starting 10 yards closer to 6 every time the offense comes back out after a punt? Are you willing to give up Dallas Sartz, Robert McCune, Mark Wilson, Andre Lott, Darnerian McCants, or Quincy Sanders to get that? Based on our draft history this decade, odds are that's the kind of player we'd be trading in effect for this 2005 2nd round pick.

Who would you rather have James Thrash or Roscoe Parrish?

That's what I thought.

The guy is 26 and can burn up field, yea he's 5'9 who cares we desperatly need a punt returner. I am SICK of seeing ARE hop left hop right tackle for 1 yard gain.

For a second day pick this year or next year? HELL YES.

1. Besides this article, have the skins expressed any interest in this guy.

2. When a team tries to trade a player that doesn't garner a lot of interest any good FO will just wait it out and either pick the guy up for a low second day pick or wait for the release and get him for free.

Even Vinny is not stupid enough to waste a 4th round pick on a player we might not even need.

Well that's great. Not only did the trade strengthen a division rival, but it put yet another team that needs a LT ahead of us. If Andre Smith or Oher are there, I'll bet they take him at 11 and keeping Walker on the right. Also I wonder why the Bills didn't push for the 21st pick instead? Peters had a bad year last year (11.5 sacks allowed in 13 starts) but he was good before and he's still young.

And I hope we do not trade for Parrish. How would he make our roster? I'd rather just stick with Randle El

a. it's Clayton, whose one of the more reliable reporters

b. the out of nowhere rumors seem to be the ones that happen

unless Danny wants him, to insure the Skin's get him

We don't have a 4th round pick this year, have to be a 5th or lower

Stupid trade IMO! Case in point, look at Jason Peters and what he accomplished and the value Buff got for him.

Don't trade unknown potential for someone who has shown his potential and it is not all that great.

Will upgrade ST's, but thats about it.
