MARK PHILLIPS
Before you click on the link, what grade would you give the Skins? This may surprise some of you. http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/9453994/Draft-review:-How-every-team-ranks-from-2003-'08?gt1=39002

AKM311
If you change the title and show it is an article, you will get more hits. Right now, people think you are just stating an opinion. Title it: FoxSports: Draft Grades from 2003-2008
MARK PHILLIPS
A little more detail that may help you decide http://www.pro-football-reference.com/draft/draft_query.cgi?pos=ALL&round_1=1&round_2=30&tm=was&year_1=2003&year_2=2008&conference=any&type=
RenegadeTK
wow... that is suprising. i guess we dont necessarily fail in our actual picks, we fail by giving our picks away

TSO
wow... that is suprising. i guess we dont necessarily fail in our actual picks, we fail by giving our picks away It's actually not surprising. It's been said time and time again that our scouting is actually pretty good... the only problem is our over-zealousness when it comes to trading our picks. Vinny never gets any credit for what he's done that's good. I'm sure people will even say he had nothing to do with those picks like they were standing there in the draft day room. Stophovr6
wow... that is suprising. i guess we dont necessarily fail in our actual picks, we fail by giving our picks away Pretty much, which is why it angers me to hear that the Draft isn't important, or that it's not as important as FA. I hate that line of thinking.
VaSkinsNut
It is true, the skins draft pretty decently...we just never have picks... And the Vetrans we get from said picks are usually expensive and play terribly. Oddly enough, we hit better with rookies than guys with NFL experience. tiger187126
everyone rags on vinny but his 1st rounders usually don't miss. the problem we have is our stud draft picks leaving for big money while we spend our money on other teams picks (pierce, dockery vs. smith, randle el) i hope last year's draft turns out well because maybe it'll finally inspire dan to hold onto his picks
ChiefPowhatan17
Not too bad, with few picks.
MattFancy
we have drafted some good players lately. campbell, rogers, mcintosh, cooley, st, golston, monty, landry. all of those players have seen significant playing time since we drafted. like someone said before, when we have picks we do a good job of using them. the problem is we like to trade away those picks more often than not. i still have faith in thomas and kelly to pan out this year and into next year. i didn't think we would get a b for the grade, but i'll take it. BAFGA
Imagine what we could do if we stopped trading picks. Is there a chart out there showing performance per dollar spent?
Cooley4President
We've drafted well as a whole when we've had picks, but the stench of last year's 1/10 still lingers. Although there's time for that number to adjust.
brlawson
absolutely agree. we could be superbowl champs by now if we build through the draft and not free agency. I can not think of one team that has gone out, paid huge money for great players and become a superbowl winning team.
robotfire
We had seven fewer picks over that time period than the next closest team (Arizona), who had 40. Keep in mind, 10 of those picks came LAST YEAR. At 33 picks over that time, some teams had almost twice what we did.
Travdaskin
Yeah, it sucks we keep giving picks away, I hope that will change...
bu7ch
He lost all hope in my book when he said that the Bengals selected a good C in Eric Ghiaciuc. I have to hear/see them play, obviously, and that dude is the worst starting center in the league.
CM916
What does it take to fail? I do agree however that we do better than we think in terms of finding good players. Our problem is that we sometimes ignore needs or rely on free agents to fill them short term.
