Michael Oher, OT, Mississippi: I’ve talked to three teams in the top 10 and they feel his bottom will be at No. 10 with the 49ers, who love him. He also might go as high as No. 7 with Oakland.

...

I keep hearing from teams that Andre Smith is not as bad as he’s been portrayed in terms of intelligence and work habits and is making a surge that might put him in the top 10.

Lombardi has been very good since joining the National Football Post. He remains very close to the league and those in the "know".

I felt this was good to share for those who had questions on Smith and Oher.

The closer we get to the draft the more concerned and confused I get with that 13th pick. I think it's easier to just no hear/read anymore of these articles about who's stock is rising or falling.

To add to that "redskins insiders" keep bringing up Mark Sanchez! :stop:

Can't wait until the 25th!

Not everybody can go top 10, somebody is going to fall. Somebody will fall to 13 that we desperately can use.

Oh please let it be A. Smith or Orakpo.

i cannot wait for the 25 as well

i still hope a.smith falls to 13

If we can somehow land him, I will be ecstatic.

I think you can extend this to lineman on both sides of the ball will be going in the top 15/20 with a QB or two thrown in. You can add the pass rushing OLB's that will project to a 3/4 defense in the mix.

I think WR's will fall again this year with maybe Crabtree going high. I think the others will fall. Two many question marks and historically WR's are hard to evaluate.

I just hope an elite lineman, preferably an OT, is available at 13. If the four tackles are gone and the top Dline players are gone then the skins should seek to trade down. No need to grab a LB at 13.

That said, I do see at least one lineman availabe at our pick.

It would be terrific for Skins if all 4 OTs went top 10 (easier to trade up).

The closer we get, I'm thinking that all 4 OTs will go in the top 12, and that there will be 6 OTs drafted in the first round.

I have a hunch that Orakpo may fall to 13.

Please explain what you mean here, because I don't think I understand.

And if this means that you think the Redskins should trade up, I think that we're about the last team that should be entertaining such thoughts.

In no particular order, here are the likely top 10 picks...

Aaron Curry

Brian Orakpo

BJ Raji

Jason Smith

Eugene Moore

Andre Smith

Michael Oher

Mathew Stafford

Mark Sanchez

Michael Crabtree

I doubt any one of these guys falls to 13, other than mabye Oher or Smith, who is worth taking (ie Sanchez or Stafford).

Orakpo is top 5 even with all the talk of the big four taken before our pick. The people sliding will be Maybin/Jackson/Brown. The other DE should slide if the tackles go that high, but RAK is not going to slip out of the top 5 much less top 10.

Seems more and more likely Orakpo or Raji will be at 13. You have Crabtree, maybe Maclin, Curry, both Qbs, maybin and/or brown 4 OTs before the skins pick at 13. There's a good chance Maualuga and Tyson Jackson go at 12 if Sanchez is already gone. The skins might actually get who they covet without trading up. Woot.

You think there will be 4 OT's taken in the top 10?

Or do you mean those are the best available top 10 players in the draft?

Best available doesn't always mean being drafted that high

Yeah. Who knows what will happen. If the top 4 OTs are gone then that means someone spiffy is going to drop to us. I just hope that the elite player that does fall is not Michael Crabtree or Jeremy Maclin. That would be awful unless we could trade back.

If that happened and we couldn't trade back, I'd say just bite the bullet and either reach for Robert Ayers, or draft Knowshon Moreno.

I'm saying best available. So my point was best case scenario one or two of the Top OT's fall. OTs are becoming a hot commodity in the NFL with a resurgence of awarness of the importance of the OL.

I could see Everette Brown squeezing in the top 10. But that still leaves picks 11 and 12. Perhaps Vontae Davis or Malcolm Jenkins. I could see Aaron Maybin, Michael Johnson, or Larry English. Maualuga and Cushing could be a possbility.

Its a big mystery. But if the top 10 I listed go before #13, I would rather trade back.

Michael Oher's stock must have really soared. I have not seen any projections that have him going anywhere near the top 10. The fact that this is coming from Mike Lombardi makes it very questionable.

A lot of the reports we read and hear are from mediots. Lombardi has actual sources (ie scouts, personnel evaluators, gm's etc). If teams are telling him this, I would take this more serious than what Kiper or McShay have to say...

Redman ... I see the Lions taking Stafford, the Rams taking JSmith, the Cheifs taking Monroe (to pair with Albert), Seattle taking Curry, Cleveland taking Orakpo, Cincy taking ASmith, Raiders taking Macklin; Jags taking Crabtree, GB taking TJackson, SFran grabbing MOher ... then all the Skins have to do to grab Sanchez is to trade with Buffalo in order to prevent Denver from trading up (which Broncs are reluctant to do because they do not want to squander the choices received from Chicago) (Buffalo then gets their man Pettigrew at 13). My worst case scenario is that DS will trade with the Lions for the No. 1 ... which the Lions really do not want (this is the rumour) and guarantee landing Sanchez. Either way get ready for No. 6 wearing the B&G.

I respect your opinion but I feel the exact opposite. While certainly not always right, Mel Kiper, Jr. and Todd McShay monitor a college players draft status for a living. That is all that they do. Currently neither one has Michael Oher going before the 17th pick.

As you said there certainly are a lot of mediots out there as well. I don't take there word as gospel but I think that it helps put things in perspective. Currently NFL.com's four mediots have Oher going at 20, 13, 13, and Pat Kerwin guessing at 28.

I think that a team will have to be in love with Michael Oher to pick him in the top 10.

Um, look up his resume.

Oh I know exactlly who Michael Lombardi is and it doesn't change my opinion. ;) He has worked for several NFL teams including the Raiders. He was fired several years ago and has been unable to find and job in the NFL since. I have heard and seen several interviews with him on NFL Network.
