The Sir
I saw this on another message board before and it worked really well. Everyone nominate a song and the first 32 will get selected and randomly pitted against each other. There will be a poll for each round (one massive "pick one from each pairing" poll, not 16 different polls for each matchup). The only requirement is that the song was an actual single that was popular and received radio play. I guess a better title would be "best pop song of the 90's". I think it's easier and more fun this way. I'll start, Fugees - Killing Me Softly edit - Another rule is that there can only be one song from any single artist. So make sure it is their best. 1. Fugees - Killing Me Softly 2. Pearl Jam - Black 3. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Under the Bridge 4. Alice in Chains - Man in the Box 5. Vanilla Ice - Ice Ice Baby 6. Soundgarden - Black Hole Sun 7. Eric Clapton - Tears in Heaven 8. MC Hammer - Can't Touch This 9. Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit 10. Urban Dance Squad - Deeper Shade of Soul 11. Fiona Apple - Criminal 12. Counting Crows - Rain King 13. Jeff Buckley - Mojo Pin 14. Live - Lightning Crashes 15. Garth Brooks - Friends in Low Places 16 Metalica - Enter Sandman 17. Weezer - Say it ain't so 18. Alanis Morissette - You Oughta Know 19. Stone Temple Pilots - Interstate 20. Blink 182 - What's my age again? 21. Mark Morrison - Return of the Mack 22. Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg - Nothin but a g thang 23. Rage Against the Machine - Killing in the Name 24. Faith No More - Epic 25. Mobb Deep - Shook Ones pt. 2 26. Blind Melon - No Rain 27. Third Eye Blind - How's it gonna be? 28. Montell Jordan - This is how we do it 29. Jesus Jones - Right Here, Right Now 30. Paula Abdul - Opposites Attract 31. Bush - Glycerine 32. No Doubt - Just a Girl 33-64. TBD Field expanded to 64, KEEP NAMING SONGS

boofMcboof
RHCP "Soul to Squeeze" is my favorite but "Under the Bridge" would probably fare better.

The Sir
you sir, have a lot to learn. I don't know, I've heard of Pearl Jam and know what their hit songs are. I googled "Pearl Jam best song" and it gave me a top 20 list of Pearl Jam songs, neither of those songs were up there. It also had an honorable mention that had 10 more songs, they weren't there either.

I know what you're saying. Just seems like people are picking the most obscure b-side the bands have ever released. If they would have had Jeremy and Smells like teen spirit. People would actually know the songs.
