E33Green
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5IngCtRtng Hard to watch this video without tears welling up. I remember being at this game and still have the piece of turf that I grabbed when they let the fans on the field. RFK was without a doubt one of the greatest sports venues of the 20th century. It's pretty depressing to contrast my childhood experiences at RFK with the current experiences at FedEx. Anyways, thought y'all would enjoy this. HAIL! P.S. I can't believe Stanley Richard made the last tackle at RFK. IMHO he was one of the all time WORST Redskins. Couldn't make a tackle to save his life. :point2sky

RunClintonRun26
Yeah man . . . My dad took me to that game, and made sure that we both grabbed some of the field. Considering we are both of the same age group, I am sure that you too wonder if FedEx will ever be able to come close to the RFK experience . . . It really is bothersome to know that the two are nowhere near each other . . . nor will FedEx ever be able to recapture the magic of RFK. I am still holding out some hope for FedEx (and trust me, I have been one of the most vocal detractors and cynics when it comes to Snyder's cash cow) - IF we are able to make a serious run for a Superbowl and host some home games in the Playoffs, I greatly hope that FedEx can become a true home-field advantage. Roger.Staubach
I've been to a lot of NFL stadiums. RFK is still the best of them all. I don't know if it's because I am a Dallas fan watching at my hated rivals home field, or what...but man, that place had a vibe to it that these newer facilities can't come close to. Almost every seat was a good seat and the crowd noise was amazing.
Dan T.
I got some of the end zone turf and planted it in my yard. Also got an orange seat bottom that someone had yanked off it's hinges. The ending was fun. One brave soul ran onto the field, and got caught. The another. Then two more. Soon, the numbers pouring onto the field overwhelmed security, and we all joined the party on the field. And they beat Dallas, which added the sweet to the bittersweet. Even when FedEx is filled with 92,000 people, they come nowhere near matching the noise that 60,000 could make at RFK (due to the amazing acoustics). When the stands started to bounce, it was magical.

skns4life
how cool would it be if for just one game, the Skins could play there again?! Like a pre-season game or an exhibition game agaisnt the Ravens or something?! Then maybe Danny would dish out some cash for a new stadium similar to RFK! I know, wishful thinking... but I still think it'd be a good idea. I bet you anything that every seat in the stadium would be filled in a scrimmage game against the Ravens if he did that! Chief skin
The end of an era very sad. My brother and I sawed the slats out of a seat and got piecess of it in the upper deck :hysterical: we had other fans standing around us protecting us from view while we worked. those helping fans also got pieces

RFK could get very very loud as well, but the 92k at FedEx, when into a game, get VERY loud The best example is the VT-USC game in 2004 As for RFK, I loved the place. Had character and meant Redskins football And from that youtube clip, damn Sean Gilbert was a BIG man
morpheusmeyers
At the 1:55 mark of the video a fan lights a Dallas helmet on fire. Fox cameras stay on it for over 10 seconds. Great stuff.

I also could not hear the person next to me at RFK when it got very loud.. i cant say i've ever experienced that at FedEx, and i am 9 rows off the field with all of those people behind/above me. Yes it gets loud but even when its loud i see alot of people just sitting on their hands in 111, 112 and 113 when everyone else is trying to make noise FedEx COULD BE as loud if everyone got into it, but the average teams we keep fielding contribute to that. My 2 cents
Capt. Kaos
No offense to the RFK lovers or to the stadium and what it stood for as far as Redskins football went. I love(d) that place like no other but rest assured..... The Redskins get back to winning and making deep playoff runs and FedEx will be as loud and rowdy as RFK ever was. The one constant to remember is that we are the same proud fanbase. I hear the crying about the corporate seats and the "whine & cheesers" but in my opinion those fans are misplacing their anger and frustration on a more reachable portion of the organization. Once we get back to our winning ways that anger and frustration will be turned in to hate and disdain and be directed where it belongs...... at the visiting team! Case in point ~> the Skins vs. Lions playoff game. FedEx was insane, you couldnt hear yourself talk let alone the fan next to you. jmho
DieHard86
I got married this past weekend, and my wife gave me the perfect gift: cufflinks cut from an orange chair from RFK that was removed after the 1996 Dallas game. I was at that game too.
BAFGA
If/When Snyder thinks it's time to build a new stadium in D.C., and they close down FedEx Field, it will be equivalent of the closing of the Capital Centre/USAir Arena. No one will miss it. It's the most sterile stadium in the league and it is located in the middle of nowhere.

Gart Monk
When I went onto the field (along with thousands of other people) one of the security workers singled me out and threatened to send me to jail. I should have tackled his ass so I could have a stat at RFK. I did get a sq ft of goal line turf that Hershel Walker scored the last ever touchdown on. I met Joe Jacoby and John Riggins that day. Dallas had the division locked up and it's shameful cause Washington started 7-1 that year and that game could have been for the division.
Redskinjoe
That game happens to be my first Skins game. RFKFedEx
I don't know if it's because I am a Dallas fan watching at my hated rivals home field, or what...but man, that place had a vibe to it that these newer facilities can't come close to. Almost every seat was a good seat. And the same can be said for Texas Stadium. The upper deck seating in that place was so freakin close to the field compared to any other new venue around the league today. I was in the second to last row up top, yet it was like being in the top row of the club level at FedEx. The renderings I've seen of the new Jerruh Dome look as if the upper deck might be worse than FedEx's. A feat I never dreamed possible. Watching the game on the HD jumbotrons will grow old fast at $300 per seat. I can't wait to read all of the stadium moans and grones over at Cowboyszone after their first home loss. They introduced all the past Redskins greats, and one-by-one they came walking out to midfield, all dressed to kill mostly in suits and ties. They announce John Riggins, and he allows a theatrical pause, then comes SPRINTING out of the dugout in full gear and Redskins uniform, like he's going to take the field again. The crowd went absolutely bonkers. That ceremony, and Riggins' grand entrance, was an all-time Redskins highlight for me.
