.....lost his number

kendall1.JPG

They keep saying they're going to make him a priority, but I think it's been overlooked that DD got #66... so goodbye Pete? Too bad too, cause eventhough his knees aren't getting any younger he's still a quality backup/part time starter. Thanks Pete for a great couple of years. Class act.

i was pysched when we signed kendall....he filled an immediate need in a time of crisis. he was serviceable, not a rock star but definitely reliable. i would like to see the skins extend him an offer to come back in a backup role and retire as a skin. if they dont I would not be heartbroken, but it would be nice.

He sure is Dictator,, letting Kendall walk away would be a mistake. Depth was our Achilles Heel last year, and he is a cagey vet who rarely makes a mental error.

Please keep him for at least this year to shore up the depth.

Wow haha, just because a guy loses his number he is gone? The Skins'll probably resign him for a cheap deal and if not then I'm not losing any sleep...more OL depth lost might just force Snyderrato to look at drafting an O lineman (i wish)

Yeah dude, nice scarcasm. What happened when Haynesworthnothing held up 92? Evans got gone, quicklike.

Ummm, Dockery is going to start and Kendall isn't currently on the team so Dock's old number was available. If we resign Kendall it was only going to be for depth purposes and at that point he could choose whatever number is still available. Seems pretty simple to me.

We need depth, but I'd like depth that we can trust through long stretches of the season and possibly develop into . I don't trust Kendall's knees for him to be more than a stop-gap solution. I'd rather we draft a young guy to develop there. Hopefully Rinehart is one such guy and we can get more guys to develop.

It's not like Kendall's got a drawer full of diamond-encrusted "#66" bling that he'll have to take back to the jewelers. Kendall strikes me as a really intelligent guy who wouldn't really care what his uniform number is, as long as the game checks clear.

With Dockery signed, we don't need Kendall's knees to hold up for long stretches. He can become a spot starter to fill in when guys get nicked and a locker room guy who knows how to act like a pro.

He played in every game last season, plus we don't have enough draft picks to cover every area where we need a young guy. I think we'd be better off with Kendall than without him.

While I would like to keep him around at the vet minimum, I don't think it would be a hardship if he wasn't back. Bringing in Dock (who has yet to miss any time with injury) and Will Montgomery and having a developmental guys like Rinehart and Devin Clark, I actually feel somewhat comfortable about our depth at guard right now. I expect more developmental guys will come in after the draft.

true, but he didn't practice during the week. He's old with bad knees. I'm not against resigning the guy, but I'd like to get younger and develop guys for the future. Without having any intense knowledge of how Rinehart will work out, I'd rather get more young guys who have potential to one day start.

I honestly thought we had that with Crummy and Brown last year, but one got hurt and one was beat out by Geisinger. How good is Geisinger? I don't know, but he was activated to play LT last year when Samuels went down.

I'd just like to see us develop youth, especially along the lines. If that means we sign Kendall to a minimum contract and have him compete for a backup spot - then cool. We did that with Wynn a few years ago. We did that with Wade last year. But I don't want to think that if we re-sign Kendall, that our OL depth is 'set' cause it isn't.

That was a coincidence. When a player enters Free Agency, they are no longer under contract with the team.

Meaning their number has become available.

true, but wouldn't you be more comfortable if we had a guy who if say Thomas or Dockery went down we could plug in and not lose traction, or who we could see replacing Thomas in a few years. I'm thinking about not just this year, but planning for the future. Part of that planning may be getting younger more reliable depth who are challenging for starting spots.

Will Montgomery? You have faith in him? I thought he was just a stopgap to fill a roster spot after Crummy got claimed off our practice squad. I don't even expect him to make the roster this year.
