Though he’s saying all the right things publicly, Redskins quarterback Jason Campbell isn’t happy that the team for which he plays pursued former Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler.

Per one source close to Campbell, the 2005 first-round pick is “pissed” about the situation.

But apparently not pissed in a way that will prompt Campbell to whine and cry for a trade of his own. As we hear it, Campbell is using the situation as motivation to make himself into a better quarterback.

If the goal is to perform as well or better than Cutler does in Chicago, Campbell actually might not have very far to go. Last year, Campbell’s passer rating was 84.3. Cutler’s was 86.0.

The difference between the two arises from the yardage and touchdowns. Cutler had 4,526 and 25, respectively; Campbell had 3,245 and 13

That said, Cutler threw 18 interceptions to Campbell’s six.

The real difference could arise from the fact that the Redskins have a much better running game, fueled by former Bronco Clinton Portis, and by the fact that the Broncos don’t have much of a defense, which forces them to throw more often.

Then there’s the fact that Campbell was learning a new offense, and Cutler wasn’t.

So maybe Campbell can close the gap on Cutler, who now finds himself learning a new offense on a team with a better running game, a better defense, and a coordinator less inclined to have the quarterback fling the ball all over the place.

Note to Jason: we don't care if you are pissed. You are not a good QB, and you don't really deserve a starting spot. All other Redskin QBs have been replaced at some point and you will be to. Most of us want it sooner rather than later. Prove to me you are a great QB and this will change.

Ya know, Campbell will probably have a better season than Cutler.

agreed, just based on the talent around him alone should suffice. Santana Moss can still make plays. Our TE's about equal if I assume that Greg Olsen will come into his prime soon, and Desmond CLark isn't bad. Combined they can equal Cooley's production. However, if Davis steps up, we edge out there. Running game is similar as well as Forte did a lot out of nothing, as did Portis. WR's though, we clearly edge out, and if Kelly/Thomas pan out, Campbell definitely should be set.

Cutler went to the wrong team to have success. I just do not see him fitting that offense. Who is he throwing to? Greg Olsen? Desmond Clark? The fake Adrian Peterson? Devin Aromashodu? Aromashodu is the only WR's name that I recognize. And that is only because he wore the B&G for like 10 mins.

I would not be shocked to see JC17 have a QB rating about 8-10 points higher than JC6.

Nice try OP, but not good enough. If he's going to get mad now and light up the score board, that's not good. All that tells me is he had it in him before the termoil, but not the balls to use it. That doesn't look good for him. Getting angry is great for 7 year olds playing Red Rover, but this is professional football. You shouldn't have to get pissed to be at your best.

Get rid of him.

Well, if we actually make it to the regular season with Campbell as our starter, then I hope it does light a fire under his ass. I hope he does throw for 4K yards and 20+ TD's. I would throw big money at him if he took us deep into the playoffs after a season like that. I'm skeptical, but hopeful.

Jason Campbell may have the better season, but I highly doubt Jay Cutler will struggle as much as everyone is claiming he will. His receivers are definitely not top-notch, but a receiver is only as good as his quarterback.

You know I'd actually like to see Campbell get a little pissed publicly...a little fire in the belly would be good to see sometimes. At least he has expressed privately that he is angered about the situation. If he wasn't then I'd be worried.

When something like this happens, it's a definite given that the person involved like Campbell would be pissed.

However, he is playing it mature and holding it in instead of being a drama queen and starting more trouble. People on this site just don't give ANY player a chance. Remember the trade Portis threads after he blasted his o-line?

I was for the Skins trading for Cutler. All for it! I think it was more out of frustration. I remember McNabb struggling in the WCO, early in his career. But McNabb got better. The Eagles stuck with him. The Skins have to stick with Campbell. I can understand Campbell being pissed. He should be very motivated going into training camp.

It has been well documented that I have posted my dislike for Campbell. I wanted and still want a replacement for him at QB. It appears that he is going to be our starter this year. That being said I hope he does like it up and proves me big time wrong and very much GETS IT this year.

More to the point, I don't think Jason Campbell doesn't care about what ANY of us think.

That being said:

Go Get 'Em Jason! :D

True, but the person wrote that like he/she was the owner or something.

It's like if I'm pissed off at my boss and tell my friend about it, then some random person comes up and says "Well I don't care what you think!" I'd just reply, "I wasn't talking to you so mind your own business!"

I thought about giving you a pass because by your post, I thought you were twelve.. but when I saw you were in your mid fourties I was shocked.. First of all, speak for yourself.. I do care about the starting quarterback for my favorite NFL team.. I also think that saying that all other Redskins QBs have been replaced is really telling.. You sound like a Dallas fan trolling a redskins message board.. Saying that a 26-27 year old QB with a 63% completion rate, 83 QB Rating, 2-1 TD-INT ratio and over 3,200 yards in the first season in a new system sucks really tells me how clueless you and all other JC haters are.. to you Jokers its Payton Manning or bust.. well I got news for you, Tom Brady came into the league in 1998 and there hasn't been another one since.. Well run franchises like the Giants, Titans, Panthers, Ravens, Steelers, etc. have gone deep into the playoffs without being dependent on the hopes that the next Payton Manning will fall into their laps if they trade away every good QB they ever get..

F*** It, its like trying to describe color to the blind..

Question? If you have a qb rating of 86 and one with an 84.3, one throws 12 more td's and 12 more interceptions...isn't that essentially the same qb? After-all you get a little more, and you get a little less. I'm with Campbell, the guy this organization traded up for. The guy who's learned a different system every year. The guy who went 6 and 2 through the first 8 games while the play calling was unpredictable. The guy who's offensive line was at one point single out by Portis as suspect. Is Campbell really the Frankenstein in this story? Or should we be throwing stones somewhere else?

It's funny, I keep forgetting that even though this is a public board wehre we can express our opinions, we really can't because all the children on this board resort to name calling, not trying to actually talk about anything.
