BigMike619
I think Orlando can make some big noise this year and even go to the finals. With Garnett hurt and the Cavs being overrated I think Howard can help get them to the finals.

DieselPwr44
Yes, because accomplishing 10 titles in the modern age is so much easier than when the league had what, 6 to 10 teams? I hope Phil gets 11 or 12 and I think it's well within reach. Wouldn't a ten team league mean that teams were ..oh...I don't know...DEEPER than teams in today's watered down league?? Oh,BTW, tell Phil to do all the scouting,GM and coaching responsibilities plus win 8 titles in a row and then we'll talk.

The NBA TODAY is watered down? Almost all of the teams in today's NBA (ok, I'm leaving out the LA Clippers) could literally wipe the floor with the 1960's teams...all of them. I would expect this argument from someone who is 82 btw. There are more teams but the athleticism and overall talent has gone WAY up and not down (they also pull in foreign talent). You can't win that argument my friend as far as the league being better back then. All the other stuff you mention was also significantly easier back then so you could multitask. I do realize that Celtics and Lakers fans are like the Hatfields and the McCoys, the Montagues and the Capulets, Skins and Cowboys. :evilg:

BigMike619
I couldn't put Russell above Jordan, Magic or Bird. me either. but this guy is saying that because of Red doing it in a shorter period that he was better. I was just wondering what he thought of the fact that Russell had 5 more rings...did that make Bill better?
Sticksboi05
Manuuuuu http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MVjQLhH5OSw&feature=channel And rings don't directly correlate ot how good a player you were. ixcuincle
I strongly believe the "champs" are on thin ice, especially in a series against Cleveland. Have the "champs" beaten LA at all this year? The Lakers took them to school at home and away. The Lakers are better than the "champs" this year, and if the champs even manage to get past either Atlanta, Cleveland, or Orlando, the Lakers will mess them up in the finals. I don't remember Russell losing his passion for the game in the prime of his career and wandering off to play AA baseball. Russell didn't have the all around game of MJ,but he had more heart and will to win than MJ. It's not even close. Both are 1 and 1A to me.

ixcuincle
But last June's team is different from this year's team... We'll see what happens, especially if Bos and Cle meet again and Cleveland has the home court. Should be interesting.

To refresh your memory, Jordan 'quit' basketball specifically because his father was murdered and the media, he felt, was on his jock for his gambling and everything else. You are the first person I've ever heard call out Jordan for lack of heart. If you call out anyone for that, call out Shaq (yes, I'm a Lakers fan) but don't call out Jordan. This is weak sauce you're servin'
CrypticVillain
Can't wait for the playoffs. This years West playoffs might be the best ever. First round series between: Lakers/Mavs, Nuggets/Jazz Spurs/Hornets Rockets/Blazers Can Kobe's other 10 step up? Will Dirk dominate? Will Carmelo show up? Is Deron Wiilliams an elite player? Is Manu healthy? Are the Hornets ready? Can the Rockets get out the first round??? Did the Blazers grow before our eyes??? So many questions, so few answers. :wavetowel

Jofizz
GOAT...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aM3zAt_jusA Glad you made that. After watching the Kobe one, all I saw was imitation Jordan, all the way down to the fist pump. Jordan is where amazing happened. The NBA will never be what it was then. DCranon21
I'll tell you where Amazing will happen... A place called the Staples Center, where the Lakers will hoist the O'Brien trophy for the 4th time this decade. It's been 7 years since the last one. ACW
Won't be PHX, as they are getting SMOKED in Dallas. BTW, J-Kidd has 20 assists, moving him ahead of Magic for 3rd all time.

I would put a sig bet on it. Prepare to be sporting a different sig, especially if it's the Mavs. The Mavs would win one game at most, but every game could very well be close since that's the way it's been with every Lakers-Mavs game this season. I love the Mavs, but they won't beat LA in a series. Fact.

I have no logic at all behind my bold prediction. It is just a feeling. For example, if J5, Josh Howard, is healthy he could be deadly versus the Lakers and I don't know if Odom or Gasol could hang with Dirk. When it comes to the Jazz, if AK47 realizes that he is a defensive stopper and could at least "contain" Kobe and hope that Deron Williams torches Fisher. Like I said I have no facts behind my prediction, but I have a very very strong feeling.Even if the Lakers do get past round one I still got the Blazer and Magic in the Finals.
