NBA Playoffs Commercials: Where Will Amazing Happen This Year?

Not with that porous defense. Anyway, seriously this is a basketball, thread, keep hockey out of it.

No, no. The Caps have been money for a year and a half. Clearly they're the crown jewel of the DC sports scene. As such we must mention them whenever we talk about sports.

They are going to be a dangerous playoff team for the next decade and have a superstar that will ascend to heights even Arenas could only dream of. I love both the Wiz and Caps but with the Wiz I assume they will get there then exit, whereas the Caps could make it.

The epitome is explained in that the Wizards even in playoff years have an uncanny tendancy to fail late in the 4th unless Gil bails them out. The Capitals shine in the 3rd. In fact, AO leads the league in 3rd/OT goals.

Btw, Caps clinched the SE division and #8 is headed to his 2nd straight MVP

But I digress and act hypocritical, the Paul Pierce one is sick...

If Nelson hadn't gotten hurt I'd stick with my original sleeper of Orlando. Though Skip to my Lou isn't horrible and Howard is simply the best so they might be able to pull it off. Probably too young though. So right now I'm going to have to painfully say Boston in the East. I know the East has the three top teams as far as records go but that's because it's top heavy. It'll be one of those three: Magic, Celts, Lebrons. I don't forsee any sleepers.

In the West, the Lakers are the best. But some teams could surprise.

Houston intrigues me. I find it both hilarious and sad that they've actually improved with the TKO of McGrady. But not surprising considering Yao was pushing management to move him earlier this year. It would be beyond pathetic to see TMac finally make it past the 1st round sitting on the bench in a suit.

With Denver, I know they're kinda hot right now, but I still don't think 'Melo has matured to the point where he can actually lead his team on a run when it really counts. And I love him but Iverson is so brittle. He's just such a small dude and age is catching up to him.

Portland could also make some noise but they're so young so who knows. I thought they were building something that could have dominated the West for the next decade but the Miles thing really, really hurt them. And Oden needs to get his **** together and stay healthy as well. That's not looking too good right now though. I've already seen Sam Bowie comparisons being thrown around in Portland (Oden=Bowie, Durant=MJ)

In the end though, I'd say my number one sleeper (after LA) is San Antonio. Can't sleep on grizzled vets, if healthy, during playoff time.

Nothing. I'm happy for the Caps. I love seeing a DC team doing it big (even the Caps. Hell even the DC United.) I just find it annoying to see Caps fans forever saying, "They need to copy what the Caps have done." When the Caps haven't done anything. I laid this out on WE. You already know.

I guarantee I can go in the Stadium right now and on the front page find that very quote in a thread. If not multiple threads.

And I disagreed there.

The NBA has by far the best commercials of the major sports. Their playoff commercials each year are inspiring and outstanding. If I was an LA fan this would give me chills..

I don't know, I feel like the NBA does a horrible job of promoting their product. This campaign just seems like a rip-off of their own campaign a few years back that I did like where it showed various players in slow motion followed by a poem or compelling quote. The NFL does a much better job of promoting their product, and even TNT does a better job of promoting the playoffs than the NBA itself.

Probably Cleveland. Boston's reign as champ may be coming to an end very soon ;)

If Jameer Nelson were playing I would say Magic are a dark horse to win it all. But with Cleveland playing so bad and KG's health in question I don't know it should be interesting in the East at least. Although in the end I think Boston will pull it out because honestly Lebron's supporting cast just still isn't good enough to supplement him to the finals.

In the West I think the Blazers are a dark horse to make it to the finals. Brandon Roy is quietly becoming one of the best players in the NBA and when Greg Oden isn't even considered the 2nd or 3rd best player on that team that says something about how deep that team is. But I don't see any other teams seriously challenging LA.

What's that old saying?? The Champs are the Champs until they get beat.

Keep underestimating these guys....please? :D

They bought their one championship. I hope they savor it because another one is not forthcoming :D

And I'm looking forward to Phil matching Auerbach w/10 titles this year.

If that happens it will be in name only. What Red did and Phil did are two seperate things.

But enjoy your little name thingy record if you guys do it. :)

Yes, because accomplishing 10 titles in the modern age is so much easier than when the league had what, 6 to 10 teams? I hope Phil gets 11 or 12 and I think it's well within reach. ;)

No, the NHL does a horrible job. Hockey games are so much more exciting than basketball yet it is watched so much less because ignorant people think it's "stupid". A playoff hockey game in sudden death OT is more intense than anything basketball can produce. A last second chance at a game winner parallels a breakaway in OT.
