SI.com: Why Broncos nixed Redskins, Browns deals

The deal was not that hefty.

Cooley, Campbell, two firsts and a second for Cutler? Uh. Noppers. Not even close. I do believe it's totally accurate Cleveland felt it wasn't getting enough.

As you pointed out, Campbell wasn't actually part of that deal. Campbell was "assumed" by my buddy in Cleveland. Cooley, two firsts and a second. The argument was over who would get the second.....or so I was told. I still don't believe any of it so take it for what it's worth......probably a stale ham sammich buoyed by a decent cup of Dunkin Donuts java.

Next year Campbell is going to have a career year and Kyle Orton is going to fall flat on his face and be replaced by Chris Simms or he won't win the job altogether. The Broncos won't win more than 6 games next season.

I get that, but as Art and Park City Skins have noticed too, the article does not make sense.

It says that, because Denver did not want Campbell, the 3-way deal was not completed, thus allowing Chicago to get back into trade talks with the Broncos.

However, according to the details of the deal, it says that Denver was never even offered Campbell; Brady Quinn was the guy that was supposed to go to Denver.

So what really happened to make the deal fall through? Was there even a 3 way deal? Was Cleveland the team that really did not want Campbell? It doesn't add up.

I said it yesterday a couple of times. I just wasn't convinced that the Redskins were going to actually go through with a trade. As soon as I read a report stating that Cutler's agent was sure he was going to be a Redskin,I laughed and said okay. Definitely not. I suspected after things were through, and still think the Redskins weren't going to up the ante is one reason for the deal falling through.

Well, you have to admit it was fun while it lasted. I LOVE this stuff. Who knows if it would have made our team better but it sure was fun to argue about.

What's next on the agenda? Surely something will come up BEFORE the draft. ;)

so Im to believe they wanted Orton over Campbell?

if so then the donkeys can get what they deserve...theyre going to be even worse then the chefs and faiders

NOT SO FAST...... where did Orton play college? Purdue. What kind of system does Tiller run? Spread. What does McDaniels run? Spread. Makes A LOT of sense now. Orton does have a good record as a starter, 21-12 I believe. McDaniels also thinks he can take a "no-name" and make him into one. Brady (6th rd) and Cassel. Yeah, Brady was a Weiss project, but Im sure McDaniels was on staff is some lesser role.

Imagine the heartbreak. Bus Cook is on the phone telling him he's minutes away from throwing the ball for the most free-spending NFL owner, then a few minutes later - Sorry Jay, you're going to the mother of all quarterback graveyards.

Hey flock. Wanna go back and edit that with the more relaxed, calmer version? The one you would post after taking a few breaths. Like 20 of them.

Note to others. Let's ignore" that" post for now. That's all it's worth.

Maybe delete all posts that fire racism shots, my post didnt even spew profanities. I cant stand the racism card always being played so blindly every time something doesnt go an African Americans way. Andy Reid is one too cause he benched McNabb and Tennessee for Young and Vikings for Jackson.

Doesn't have to contain profanities to be a problem. You were asked to fix your response and you didn't. Not good.

I'm not so sure Cutler sees it that way; grew up a Bears fan and wants to "go home." But yeah, I hope he has fun throwing to .... er, who exactly will he be throwing to?

What is unknown is what caused the Browns to develop "cold feet" at the last minute? The 3-way deal fell apart because of the Browns - not because of the Bears.

I saw somewhere in this plethora of articles circulating that 'sources close to the Cutler negotiations' said the Browns and Skins were all in and it was the Broncos who pulled the plug and went with the Bears' offer. I'm guessing the 3-way deal had Denver sending something back to Cleveland, Broncos decided it wasn't worth whatever extra that was to get Quinn instead of Orton.

There is no freedom of speech in this forum, or any private forum for that matter. Seriously. That's just the way it is. The forum owners make the rules, the moderators enforce the rules using whatever discretion is afforded by the owners. We're only 'free' to post here as long as we abide by those rules as interpreted by the moderators. It's no big deal. :whoknows:

Another wrong answer(s),(that means there is no debate flock. See: Rules, guidelines, and keep in mind privately funded site ). Sigh. A perfectly good cat picture gone to waste.

Okay. Back to the trade. As has been noted by others and I agree with them. Redskins had in mind the deal that would work for them and that deal may have included the max they would give up for Cutler. Denver,(and others?) wanted more and the Redskins were out.
