Why Broncos nixed Redskins, Browns deals

http://www.fannation.com/truth_and_rumors/view/97810-why-broncos-nixed-redskins-browns-deals?eref=fromSI

In the end, Denver did not want Jason Campbell. And that's why Jay Cutler is headed to Chicago. According to a source involved in the discussions, the Redskins were closing in on a three-way deal Thursday afternoon that involved Cleveland quarterback Brady Quinn going to Denver. The source said he was told that the deal was likely to happen soon. The Examiner reported that a deal was close. Indeed, a CBS affiliate in Denver also reported that Jay Cutler had told them he was told by his agent that he was going to Washington. ESPN also reported that the Redskins were at the top of the list and a deal could happen at any time. However, the deal involving the Browns unraveled, prompting Chicago to jump back in and offer a less-complicated deal, knowing the Broncos liked Bears quarterback Kyle Orton. The source said Denver's preference of quarterbacks was Quinn and then Orton. They were not high on Campbell. So, rather than do a three-way deal with Washington and another team, the Bears, according to an NFL source, called to offer Orton, two first-round draft picks, and a third-round pick in exchange for Cutler and a fifth-round pick.

...And yes, it was all one paragraph :)

Not true. It's all rumors. Everyone is lying. There was never any deal and it was never serious, at least that's what I read here.
Vinny said the team had no interest in trading for Cutler so its gotta to be a rumor. :silly:

Will people that believe every word that comes out of Vinnys mouth finialy realize the guy is never going to tell the truth about stuff like this. I dont feel he has to tell the truth either.

There is only one team out of the 32 NFL teams that like Campbell, unfortanetly; the Redskins are that team.

Doesn't the paragraph imply that the Browns wanted him? Or would we have just given all our picks to the Browns in order for them to get rid of Quinn?

What team would that be?

The consequences of ADD.

I guess you could say it sucks for us right now..right. Being a Redskins fan and what you're used to. I could just call you a baby and assume Mommy didn't buy you that shiny toy.

But in a sense, I like the idea that not exactly everyone is interested in our franchise QB. If he pans out this year, he'll come cheaper.

This makes me very sad.

The fact that the Redskins were on TOP of Cutler's list of potential teams makes me wish he was here.

In the end, I still have faith in Campbell. Hopefully he can get pissed off enough, and take a **** the world attitude.

Why do we respect the opinion of the Broncos? Unless I miss my guess, they just pissed off the Elway Heir they've been desperate for going on ten years now, and are now looking at Kyle Orton as their QB.

The picks they got will have to be used in large part to shore up an appalling defense, (29th overall. :pooh:) with the hope they'll improve enough to compensate for the significant downgrade at QB. Last year they're second in the NFL on offense, 3rd overall in passing. And remember, seven RBs went to IR. Does anyone honestly think Orton's getting that kind of production?

Consider their defense is SO bad that they HAD to be that kind of offense to just break even at 8-8.

They screwed the pooch with Cutler, and have weakened their team considerably. IF they get immediate production out of the defense one would think they'll use these picks on, how good will that D have to get to make the team a contender?

There's no reason at all that we should feel embarrassed because the Denver Broncos didn't want our quarterback. Hell, they didn't want THEIR quarterback, and he's one of the most promising players in the league. If anything we should be relieved they don't think much of JC. It's a better omen.

Pay attention people - Bang has put it in perspective.

The only thing Denver can hope for is that they will have different people picking their draft. Their recent selections have been as stellar as ours.
