Sources report that following the release of Plaxico Burress by the New York Giants, the Washington Redskins appear to be working on a trade that would send starting quarterback Jason Campbell to Cleveland, Browns quarterback Brady Quinn to Tampa, the Bucs 2009 #1 pick to Kansas City, Chiefs tight end Tony Gonzalez to the Giants, and would 'give' to Washington the rights to negotiate with their NFC East rival's former wide receiver at some point in the future if and when he recovers fully from the involved leg injury that resulted in weapons charges which could lead to prison time. Reached for comment, Redskins VP Vinny Cerrato said, "I love lamp."

2/02 Plaxico Burress was arrested on a charge of public intoxication in Virginia Beach, Va. His brother, Carlos Burress, was arrested at the same time on a felony charge of assault and battery on a police officer. It was the second time Burress has been charged on an alcohol-related offense in the past five months.

6/05 Plaxico Burress failed to appear in Virginia court Wednesday, June 15, on a reckless driving charge, leading authorities to issue a warrant for his arrest.

11/08 Plaxico Burress shot himself in the right thigh in the New York City nightclub LQ when his Glock pistol. The following Monday, Burress turned himself in to police to face charges of criminal possession of a handgun.

According to the Associated Press, Burress has been sued at least nine times since he joined the NFL in 2000. Not to mention the poor practice habits, dropped passes and a penchant for free-lancing.

Other than that, he seems like the kind of guy I would want representing the burgundy and gold.

We dont need one of those locker room cancers on our team
pass on Mr. have gun will travel
Here we go with this hollier than thou type of thinking again.

We just aren't good enough to be taking this type of attitude. Are we that good that we can afford to be so choosy?

This is one of the better rants I've seen here...

Well done, sir.

I wrote this in ATN, so I thought I'd post it in here in a more appropriate place:

I would take Burress over T.O. or Vick everyday of the week and twice on Sunday. He's done some stupid things, but he did them to himself. Believe it or not, Burress is not one of those players that would send me over the edge. He has talent.

I wouldn't sign him to anything more than a vet minimum deal, though.

The problem with Burress is not whether or not he will be or has been a cancer. The issue at hand is whether or not he will be a free man during the 2009 season, and possibly beyond. I just don't see how you sign a player that might be in jail a few months from now.

Well he definitely would be our best receiver and fits the mold of a West Coast receiver. Other than shooting himself, he hasn't carried too much baggage and really, haven't we all carried unlicensed, concealed glocks at one time or another?

I have a hunch that Snyder's stiffy is starting to wear off after losing Cutler and he may need to make this deal just so he'll be able to satisfy the wife.

:hysterical:

And all this is assuming that on top of the jail time that he doesn't face a league suspension.

If its possible to write up a contract that protects us in cases he is jailed/ doesnt practice and has incentive escalators then this is a FA Id pick up....his natural talent plus the intimate knowledge of Giants schemes could help us more than hurt us....i would hope
