Burgundy&Goldster
NEW YORK -- The New York Giants have released wide receiver Plaxico Burress, the team announced Friday, three days after a gun possession case against Burress in New York had been adjourned until June. The Giants fined and suspended Burress for the final four games of last season. The team also had placed him on the reserve non-football injury list, which made him ineligble for the Giants' one playoff game, a 23-11 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. After accidentally shooting himself in a Manhattan night club last Nov. 29, Burress was arraigned Dec. 1 on two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a loaded and unlicensed weapon, a Glock semi-automatic pistol, which is a felony and carries a mandatory minimum jail sentence of 3½ years. Burress' attorney has been in talks with the Manhattan district attorney's office for months, trying to get charges against Burress resolved so he could avoid a lengthy trial with the goal of returning to the NFL in time for the 2009 season. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4040009

DCMONEY
Hell yeah. I'd give him an incentive layden contract though. Games played and conduct would have to go into it. He instantly becomes the #1 WR. It would be interesting to see if the Skins brass trust their picks from last season though. If they do they're saying they trust the picks they made last year with Thomas, Kelly and Davis. jfr3ek
give him the vet minimum and take him on a test drive like DH! I'm sure he'd want to play here since he is a Virginia native!
ExoDus84
Part of me says no, because he probably will do some jail time. The other side of me wonders what this offense could with santana moss as the #2 and burress as the number 1...that would be a sick receiving corps. I mean, can you imagine what moss could do with only single coverage, going against #2 or #3 CB's?? I salivate just thinking about it.
nightbird
Yes. Then sign Michael Vick and Walter Thomas. Open up the training camp starting RB battle between Betts, Jesse Lumsden and Anthony Aldridge. Trade Portis for Chad Johnson and a #1 pick. Championship! PleaseBlitz
Yeah, lets get the guy that doesnt attend team meetings and occasionally shoots himself (while at a bar, during the week, during the season). Good idea.
dg28daman
I made a thread like this during the season when they first suspended him. I was for getting him at the time and I still am. People will probably call me crazy, but he's a baller.
