Joe Theismann: 'Skins made right call on trade, JC better than Cutler (Merged)

He's on the Locker Room right now, and he's saying what most reasonable people should know: we made the right call on the Cutler trade and that JC is better overall than Cutler. He wondered why anyone would want a whiner like Cutler, and that JC has some pluses that Cutler doesn't have, such as mobility and better decisionmaking.

He put it on the line, Jay Cutler is no better than Jason Campbell but he has a better O Line and receiver. Personally for what the Bears gave up, I'm releived.

Also Joey T said the Skins almost traded him for Eric Hipple in 1981, geez hate to think if we'd done that, so maybe this Campbell scenerio has the same ending

JC does not have better mobility than cutler

I take everything Joey has to say with a grain of salt but I think he's correct. A lot of people get upset around here by JC's lack of TD's despite his few INT's but the fact is that's what the coaches ask. Ball security has been hammered into this guy's head since day one so that's exactly what he does. Cutler is a good QB but airing it out isn't what our offense has ever been about.

If we'd made the right call we wouldn't have alienated our starting QB. We just got outbid.

We didn't make the call. We went after him and missed.

I am glad Campbell is back, but this FO needs to seriously look at itself in the mirror. They truly do not know how to handle a football team.

I agree with you on the front office but not with regards to Campbell. I think Cutler is a better QB. But since we're stuck with Jason lets get behind him and hope he plays better than last year. Lets hope the o line plays better and the WR's...

Theismann and Sheehan both could of been reading from this board.

Like or dislike Cutler, but to say Jason has better all round fundamentals, and Cutler rates above him in most nothing, is homerism to the extreme.

For Joey T to then go on and suggest we maybe weren't as deeply involved in negotiations as has been suggested was just embarrassing. At least Sheehan didn't go that far.

Hail.

Yeah, but Joey T also kept picking us to win games and going to the Super Bowl when he worked for ESPN.

Even someone like you can recognize that a former Pro Bowl QB picking which of 32 teams will win the final game is slightly different than simply making a QB comparison and evaluation.

I love it. Whenever an "expert" or player or coach says something negative, many on here use it as proof positive our player is bad. Then, when our own players stick up for a player, and people in the media do, and former coaches and players do, then those people don't know what they are talking about. Some of you are ridiculous and need to quit treating the team with a double standard.
