Cutler fiasco the latest episode in La Canfora's reel of idiocy.

Tulane SKins Fan, what did he say was wrong???? That Skins had him locked up in the next two days.... Yeah that was blatantly false. He was just geussing, thats called editorialising. Not real journalism.

Essentially my point. JLC was on NFL Live with Suzy Kolber, and more or less announced that he would be a Redskins.

That, my friends, it what makes him a fool.

I dont think JLC has any inside sources. He never once mentioned the bears. Not once. Which make me think someone was blowing smoke up JLC's ass or JLC was blowing smoke up the fans..... I personally don't believe we EVER made a real overture for Cutler. I believe JLC was completely wrong. Did ESPN ever really get on the Skins for Cutler bandwagon like all the local papers? Does the Washington Ppost own The Examiner? I'm sensing some serious WaPo duping here. Just to mess with the skins fanbase.

You are soooo money with the conspiracy theories.

The skins made a play for Cutler, 3/4 of the league did. The FO never came out in support of Jason. The canyon between "no comment" and "Jason Campbell is the starting Quarterback for the 2009 season and is our Quarterback of the future," is deep and wide. A lot of froth was whipped up by the media based on Dan's past, however the skins would have emphatically denied any rumor or any speculation very publicly if they were not making a play. "No Comment" provides plausible deniability, without offending either side.

Your first sentence was dead on though. JLC's "inside source" is the ESPN package on his black berry. Dan and Vinny wouldnt piss on him if he was on fire. On the other hand, the Washpo has cameras under your bed.

I guess I did, in fact, miss that because I didn't see him on TV... I just read some of his updates today and he didn't really write that.

Haha. nice response JahBird. While I don't think it's a real conspiracy. I do believe that the WaPo has a vendetta, especially JLC. Newspapers easily carry vendetta's whether it's against a rich man or entire political party.

I think his "reporting" on the Cutler-Skins deal was atrocious. Thats what I'm really trying to get at. JLC was flat out WRONG.

This thread makes no sense. JLC said the Skins were trying to trade for Cutler. Cutlers agent said an hour before the Bears made the trade that he thought he was going to the Redskins. So your mad at JLC for not knowing the Bears were gonna jump in at the last moment to get him.:chair:

I agree with the previous comment that Skins get dragged into major deal jsut to up the ante. Franchise and our fans be damned, we are a media target. It's us against them, and I'm ready! haha I'm standing behind the Skins on this one. including the FO and j campbell.

I'm not an appologist for JLC but he wasn't the one pounding the drums on this one. He was the last one on the bus. This whole thing was spurned on by Kleim from the Examiner. He has virtualy said that this trade was a done deal for the last two weeks. I'm not saying that the Redskins didn't attempt to aquire Cutler but where is the actual evidence? I've learned to take every report with a grain of salt because they are all coming from the now famous "league sources" and a "me first" reporting mentality of the local and national press corps. It was assumed by most in the press that the Redskins would get Cutler in the end because they were the only ones who would overpay for his services. If the Redskins had given up what the Bears did to get Cutler every mediot in the US would be pounding Washington for their inept dealings and I would have been standing right there with them as they did. That is an incredibly stupid trade on the Bears part. A starting QB, two first round picks and a swap of third and fifth rounders. Wow. I have yet to read anything negative about the Bears. If the Redskins could have gotten this done for Campbell and next years first I would have been on board but after seeing what the Broncos got in exchange for Cutler I have to say that I'm glad we still have Jason as the starting quarterback. Some might say that the Redskins may make a move in the draft for Sanchez. I don't see that happening. In the long run this whole episode in futility may be a blessing in disguise. Teams below the Redskins in the draft that want Sanchez may now think that Washington is hell bent on taking a QB and attempt to trade for the number thirteen pick. Washington may have just added value to the pick for trade negotiations.

I think JLC is a D-Bag. His reporting of D.Frost's parting shots at the organization was laughable. He is an ambulance chaser. The way he writes himself into the story ("D.Frost texted me to say...") is technically poor journalism. However, if Larry Michael(s) was writing that column we would always get the party line and updates on the grass at the practice fields. There are so many "inside media" guys out there with better access than JC (the site blogger, the guys at 980, Czabe and Sheehan, ect...) why bother giving him creedence?

What media outlet isnt biased these days? (Aside from the BBC?)

Why do I feel like this whole thing was never a possibility and was kicked up by the Broncos to get a premium on Cutler?

Because the Redskin front office never denied the rumors. "No Comment" is not a denial. This has been kicking around for a while now. Danny and Vinny had plenty of time and opportunity to shoot this stuff down. And they DIDNT. That=Redskins made a play. 3/4 of the league did. The responses overwhelmed the Denver FO so much that they shut down the phones, and only took offers, "via email and/or text"

Not calling you out or anything, but where did you hear or see Bus say that?

All I can say is that thank god other teams save us from being total laughing stocks. If we were to have given up as much as we were reported to be giving up (2 1st rounders and a player most likely Campbell), that would have been absolutely stupid. I am glad for teams like the Bears and Bengals. They save the Redskins from being the most terrible looking teams out there.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know if any of the other teams reportedly interested in Cutler got THIS much damn attention because of it? lol...It seemed like the Redskins being interested in Cutler was like Brett Favre being interested in possibly coming out of retirement: a story about it every 15 minutes and everyone and their mother pontificating about it.

I don't remember hearing really ANYTHING about the Jets, at least not to this level, or the Bears, who ironically ended up getting Cutler. Did the press focus so much on the Redskins that they missed out on giving the same amount of coverage to the Bears?...

I'm pretty sure Cerrato flat out said they were not interested in trading for Jay Cutler. Granted, he said that earlier in the game, before the last day or two when Denver openly put him on the trading block. But he made such a strong denial that you would call him a liar if you later learned they made a play for Cutler.

I heard heavy speculation about the Jets, wanting to make a big splash after losing Favre and with opening their new stadium. I heard less about Chicago, though they were mentioned as a logical landing spot for Cutler.

Anytime I watched ESPN, all I was hearing about was the Redskins. Other teams were mentioned, but they kept referring to "what Snyder wants, Snyder gets", so they dismissed the other teams.

Snyder's reputation is always going to trump any other story. Course, they have a lot of past history on their side with such things. Most of the reporters should have just stuck to their initial impressions that the Skins weren't going to do it, and why should they?

Seriously. When is this guy going to learn to shut up and let people with real information do the reporting.

He was on ESPN earlier running his mouth to Suzy Colber like he was some sort of sage. The jackassery that this guy manages to produce on such an enormous level is almost alarming.

When will the Post, the media, and the general population of DC and Virginia learn to JUST IGNORE JLC?

People still listen to him??
