D.C. is about to get a sexy new lounge

I never got clubs or lounges. Any place that says "exclusive" and "dress code STRICTLY enforced" seems so fake and unnecessarily self-important to me. I don't even understand bars that don't let you wear tennis shoes or hats. That's why I had to get the **** out of DC, everything was so unnecessarily self-important and elite.

About two years ago I decided to stop going to any place that had covers (unless a band is playing), dress code, etc. I have way more fun going out now.

What's so exciting about this place? The flier doesn't really do much for me. Doesn't even really scream upscale to me.

I agree with Duckus as well, the dress code thing is a bit ridiculous. I can understand that you don't want people looking raggedy when they come to your establishment, but sneakers and hats don't equate to raggedy. I have sneakers that look nicer than my old dress shoes, but because they are sneakers they wont let you in. Wearing my POS dress shoes though, its all good. Seems to defeat the purpose.

SHF, how much did a night at Shadow room run you?

And you just call ahead and reserve a table and its all good?

It depends on your table and how many people you have with you

I don't drink anymore, so nights out are a lot cheaper. Generally though you get a 600 dollar table, add in tip, 10 friends, you are looking at 65-70 per person

I thought Indebleu was for D-Bags. Or maybe Blue Gin. Something with a form of blue in it.

Quick checklist...does it have overdressed guys holding up full bottles of liquor (for pictures or to impress the crowd) that they overpaid for by 400%?

This new place sounds like one of those...and just my luck, it's two blocks from where I work. I can tell my Friday's leaving the job are going to be angrier now.;)

people love to hate on dc clubs and lounges

Maybe at 23, it seems cool to drop hundreds of dollars on a table at someplace "exclusive," listen to ****ty techno music, and seriously overpay for your liquor. After all, the Hot Chicks with Douchebags website has to get its material from somewhere.:evilg:

I'll pass, give me my Irish pubs and good booze, as well as unpretentious friends/nights out.

Yeee haw! I like my bars to have spitoons and stables out back so that I can ride home instead of driving. Can't get pulled over for drunk riding in VA suckers!

They have a new bar at National Harbor with a mechanical bull to ride. Now that would be a fun ES outing. Yee! Haw!!!

I never understand the hate for people that like clubs/lounges/snobby/"exclusive places"

A) the dirty little secret is these places are not exclusive at all. Real easy to get into

B) Most have dirt cheap happy hours if you arrive prior to 10

C) Anytime I bring my "I only go to dive bar" friends out with me to a douchy lounge, they have a blast. Never fails

It always seems to me the dive bar crowd (dive bars which I too enjoy) absolutely love to hate on those who enjoy something a bit more upscale, trendy and way too expensive on occasion.

I am waiting for the day I see in these threads "I effing hate the local bar, too much smoke, crappy cover tunes that people hate unless they are drunk, and ugly girls"

Simple fact, if you don't like the scene, nobody is making you go there :)

the one place that is kind of cheesy but cool in a way is Air. Now I am not even sure that place is still open or not. I do agree that give me a nice bar any day of the week over a club, just too loud now, plus the club scene in DC is lacking compared to places like NY, Atlanta etc....

Air closed its "doors" in 2005
