JimmiJo
http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/sports/Redskins-Cutler-42308827.html Skins heavily pursuing Cutler By John Keim Examiner Staff Writer 4/2/09 The Redskins have stopped denying any interest in Jay Cutler, yet another signal that they are indeed pursuing the Denver Pro Bowl quarterback. As initially reported in The Examiner two weeks ago, one executive with another team said that the Redskins were interested in Cutler, but the team spent the past two weeks denying the reports. Now multiple reports have the Redskins heavily pursuing Cutler, some suggesting a deal could be completed within a couple days. Owner Dan Snyder was said to be the one who initiated the interest. “It’s exactly the kind of move Snyder would make,” one NFL source said. And the executive said the Redskins had been shopping Jason Campbell for up to a year, since former coach Joe Gibbs resigned. Their disenchantment was clear. Campbell has one year left on his contract and the Redskins have made no movement toward an extension. “That tells you what they think,” the NFL source said. Cutler carries a hefty price tag should Washington complete the deal. The executive said it’s hard to determine how much any team would have to surrender, but said a likely starting point is two first-round picks and possibly another low pick. Or they could surrender a combination of players and draft picks, with a third team possibly entering the transaction. Click link for entire article... Burgold
Actually, Cutler should NOT have a high price tag. The kid is refusing to practice in Denver, wants OUT, demands a trade, and has poisoned the well. That should lower the price the Broncos can get because he is damaged goods. It is like the Champ Bailey situation in reverse. Champ was a great player, but everyone knew he wanted out in DC so we wound up trading him for less than his value. You could make the arguement that Champ for Portis would have been somewhat fair (although an elite corner is worth more than an elite runner generally), but the second rounder was a kick in the teeth. Under normal circumstances we should have gotten Portis and the second rounder. Cutler is the same. It is best that Denver unloads him and therefore it is a buyer's market. We should not allow ourselves to get rooked. (more we shouldn't do the deal, but if we do, we shouldn't pay through the nose for someone who forced Denver's hand into a trade)

Big Mac Patty Wack
I did not know we actually stopped denying interest. That means that he is coming.

I think the main thing is that when 10+ teams are interested, no matter what the situation is, the price tag could go high just for bidding wars. JVSkins n Hokies
This could ruin team chemistry. Suisham already wears #6. This could completely mess with Suisham's psyche, which may lead to him missing more FG's than anyone else in the NFL. We can't risk this.

In this day and age of transient journalism, Keim's one of the few remaining old school journo's that you can rely on to of put the leg work in, so to speak, and have creditable sources and story's. Burgold
I didn't consider the Suisham factor. That definately puts the nail in the coffin. As for the trade value thing, TO's agent said fifty teams were very interested in breaking the bank for him, Daniels said there is a a lot of interest in him yet he signed for vet min. I'm not saying there are a lot of teams interested in Cutler, but how interested and interested at what price is the question. I suspect you'd get 15 teams excited about Cutler for a 6th round pick. I suspect for two firsts that number dwindles rapidly.
RedskinLifer
This would be yet another huge mistake. Huge. We're going ot mortgage all the draft picks that would eventually become misused selections for him.

I personally don't think two first's is that high a price to pay for a young QB who many, myself included, believe is well on the way to becoming a franchise QB in the upper echelon's of the position. But if your going to lay that out, or worse, then you'd be better be DAMN sure everyone that matters agree's that he's THE man to lead your franchise for the next decade or so. Hail.
