SonnyJAlltheWay
A lot of people have suspected this, but no one has actually had anything confirmed yet. Hearing it from Michael Caine makes it a lot more reliable than Joe Blow on a Web site that heard from his buddy and now he is blogging it. I for one would love to see the Riddler finally done correctly. I know a lot of people want Johnny Depp. I say boo to that give it to a lesser known but tremendous actor Casey Affleck. Don't think he has the acting chops? Check out "The Assassination of Jesse James By the Coward Robert Ford" or "Gone Baby Gone." IbleedBnG83
Bring back Jim Carey. Not many people can do that character quite like he did, unless they give him a totally different attitude, but then it would be the Riddler.

He wasn't the Riddler he was Jim Carrey dressed in a jump suite being Jim Carrey. The Riddler is completely different in the comics ... check it out ... crack one open. I know a lot of people want Johnny Depp. I say boo to that give it to a lesser known but tremendous actor Casey Affleck. IMO, Johnny Depp has been risky business since he butchered Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but I admit that I was looking forward to seeing his interpretation of The Riddler. Is there a reason you think Casey Affleck would be a good Riddler? I know he's a good actor - my favorite role of his is probably in "To Die For" - he definitely knows how to play it creepy. I'm just curious about your suggestion...

Mondizzle
Don't bring back anyone, ever, from the Joel Schumacher Batman films. I disagree - I think The Riddler is a great character - the movie-makers could do some great things with him. And you didn't like Two-Face in The Dark Knight??? EDIT: Oh, did you just mean the actors?

His overall look fits in with the comic book Riddler, he is a tremendous actor, he is known but not overly known which is how Christopher Nolan tends to cast and his past acting gigs show that he could play the part. Can you post a picture of the OR (Original Riddler) please so I can reference the same thing as you? Also, isn't Phillip Seymour Hoffman supposed to play The Penguin in the next movie? Would you consider him an "unknown"?

While I am almost positive he will be the director on the next film that hasn't even been decided. Phillip Seymour Hoffman would be a perfect Penquin. I would consider him known but not a huge actor. Christian Bale was a known actor before "Batman Begins" but he wasn't huge.

EDIT: Oh, did you just mean the actors? The one thing that bothered me about two-face (okay, one of two things) was that while his face looked great, his voice didn't fit. He has a huge freaking hole in the side of his mouth, and yet he's talking like he's got a fully structured mouth. they should have done something so he couldn't fully close one side of his mouth to somewhat emulate the speech pattern he'd have. the other thing I didn't like was that they didn't give him enough time AS two-face. Mondizzle
*picture of Riddler* What was so wrong with Jim Carrey's version of Riddler? He seemed pretty demented (albeit in a mostly comedic capacity), but that whole movie (Batman Forever) was very exaggerated when it came to colors and drama and didn't it even have a different rating? Are we talking about Dark Knight? Because, certainly, Batman's voice had to have bothered you more than Two-Face's!

Because, certainly, Batman's voice had to have bothered you more than Two-Face's! why would Batman's voice bother me? The issue was with two-face that he shouldn't have been able to talk like a normal person when there's a hole in the side of his face. The physics of it were all wrong. When this bothers people it blows my mind. It only makes sense for Bruce Wayne to change his voice when he is Batman ... so that he can't be recognized. They have talked about this in the comic books before. Two-Face's voice really would have changed that much either ... they only thing that would have altered his voice is damage to the throat, vocal chords, or tongue. PokerPacker
Two-Face's voice really would have changed that much either ... Maybe not "voice" as in tone, but he'd have air escaping out the side of his mouth. grab one side of your mouth so it can't close and try to talk. It won't work out very well. Maybe some drool or drink (see the bar scene) would come dribbling out but I don't see it having too much of an effect on his vocal pattern. Two-Face's voice really would have changed that much either ... they only thing that would have altered his voice is damage to the throat, vocal chords, or tongue. This is understandable. However, when I saw Dark Knight in the theater, the first thing I noticed about Batman was how annoying his weird, raspy voice was. It sounded painful. As for Two-Face, I didn't even think about his voice, really... I thought about how much more I enjoyed Tommy Lee Jones's portrayal of him. I really like Aaron Eckhart, but I didn't like him as Two-Face at all.......... he wasn't "dirty" or "rugged" enough, IMO. Feel free to post a pic of the comic book character because I'm coming at this as a non-comic book-reader. Everything was wrong with it ... absolutely everything. Like I said he wasn't the Riddler he was Jim Carrey. I still think he did well with what he was given. If he were cast in a darker version of the film, maybe you would change your mind. :whoknows:

See that? you can fully see his teeth through his "closed" mouth. he shouldn't be able to pronounce consonants like "p" or "m" or anything of the like. A pretty trivial nitpick IMO.Two-Face would have worked real well if he was slurring a bunch of his words and drooling everywhere.
