tcb26
After reading posts on here about Cutlergate, and initally being outraged I sat back and thought about it in regards to Shanahan. This could be in the best interest of the team and accomplish something only Marty did. IF and I emphasize IF, Cutler comes, JC is gone OK (Keep Cooley and Landry). If Zorn stays or goes with Shanahan in 2010, CP gets back the system that made him GREAT! Our O-Line starts to get younger, smaller, and more athletic. And that is because....Shanahan is calling the shots as GM! (Can you say carte blanche?) He stills needs to prove he can get it done without Elway. It wouldn't be Vinny drafting a punter! So would you take Cutler now for Shanahan and no Vinny later?

If Shanny comes here next year, it will have been 6 years since he played in Denver when he only played two. He has already slowed down a ton. I wouldn't consider him a factor. skinzzfan25
I'll take Shanahan the coach any day of the week. It's Shanahan the GM that scares me. Most Bronco fans could tell you that being a player evaluator was his weakpoint at least post-Elway era. Maybe if we could get a legit GM with him overseeing it, I'd be down. GIBBS LIVES
If Shanahan comes, Portis will get shipped out of here quick fast and a hurry. When Shananhan shipped Portis to us, he told everyone after the fact that Portis became too injury prone. Was he right? Last year was the first year in 6 years that Portis finished the season healthy.

Now what if Vinny doesn't know about this and Shannahan is saying, if you can get me Cutler, I can be GM of this team. Vinny fired and Shannahan hired, but as GM. Would this be better or not? I would say better, lol!
Shilsu
So would you take Cutler now for Shanahan and no Vinny later? Well Mike Shanahan is a great offensive coach, and is better than Vinny... But he's just not that great at GM. It'd be one thing if he was just making bad picks, but he makes some horrible decisions, especially on the defensive side of the ball. Trying to build the defense from the secondary in? Trying to address the defensive line by bringing over the entire underperforming crew from Cleveland? GIBBS LIVES
You guys have the nerve to talk about Mike Shanahan's GM abilities???????????????????????????? Most of you bought the fact that Vinny drafted a dead knees WR over Jonas Jones in the 2008 NFL draft!!! And you want to talk about Shanahan's GM abilities??? He's light years better then Vinny (the lap dog) Cerrato.

I'm biased when it comes to #26. I gotta believe the zone blocking would allow for less traffic and get him to the second level of the defense quicker. But at the same time Shanahan would de-value the RB position in terms of $$$$ paid based on his rep.
Thirtyfive2seven
I wouldn't mind shanahan at all. I would still prefer to see Zorn given a fair shot this coming season but if he can't really get it done then I am all in favor of Shanny.
kreitmaster
IF you get Cutler, you gotta hire Shanahan to run the offense. I don't like Cutler with Zorn calling the shots. You gotta let him open it up and I don't think Zorn would let that happen.
Mr. S
you wanna talk about a domino effect consider this: We trade Campbell and either Cooley/Landry or a first rounder for Cutler. Let us assume we don't lose another player, but either throw in our first this year or next year, along with Campbell, for Cutler. With the first we lose this year, there goes any change of trading down in the draft, and pretty much fixing much more glaring problems such as Tackle, OLB, and DE. What is the point of having a supposedly better QB (though I don't think he'll do as well here) w/o a line to block for him. Ok fine, we throw in next years first rounder instead. So now we may get that tackle this year to help Cutler out. Next year we are out a first. Worst things have happened, sure, but in all honesty, I'd rather just spend only a first on a guy like Bradford, McCoy, or Tebow. So just like we did with Campbell, we mortgage our future for Cutler now and I can pretty much guarantee we won't win it all, or we can give Jason his deserving last chance, and keep all our remaining picks this year and next. Also, this is all irrelevant on Shanahan, he can come here if he wants to, not just cause Cutler is here.

DouggiePhresh
I suggested this in another thread. Trade Campbell and Portis for Cutler and picks. Draft an OL with the 13 or trade down, take Beenie, and take OL with a lower pick. Either way, I think this would be a prime opportunity to get value for Portis, who is starting to show a bit of wear. Don't get me wrong, he's among my favorite Redskins. I love a RB that will throw a block. But if they're thinking long-term, something must be done about the tailback position soon. Just my humble opinion. Ghost of
How is CP going to still be in the league by the time Shananhan gets an Oline in place? What picks will he use? If we keep our third, we can get an O-lineman (maybe a really good guard/C prospect like the kid from Louisville.) If we DONT trade a first, then we're even more set. That said, the excuse making is ridiculous. The offensive line is not that bad. A team just won a SB with a worse line.

SkinsTerps26
Xavier Henry goes to Kansas, Cousins follows Calipari to Kentucky, leaving Lance Stephenson to go to Maryland. Gary gets Dodson too... wait this wasn't the domino effect of Calipari leaving for UK?

So would you take Cutler now for Shanahan and no Vinny later? First off. CP has 5 more years of hard mileage on him since his days at Denver -- there's no way he'll be the same. Second. If Shanahan came here he's not gonna be the GM. Dan won't let him,...and I don't think Vinny's going anywhere (unfortunately). So, lets just sit back and see what happens. Skins may not be a great team, but you can't say they're not entertaining,...at least during the off season.
