Skins-Canes-Mounties
THINK ABOUT THE COST! How many picks do we give up? If we offered 2 firsts for Chad freakin' Johnson, how badly would we get hosed for Cutler given that there will be SEVERAL teams competing in the trade?!? Keep the picks, keep JC in 2009, build lines, if JC can't operate effectively in 2009, let him walk, address the QB situation in 2010. If he walks, we get an extra Comp Pick as well. Cutler is a PUNK anyway!

Bang
Hell no. why on EARTH would we want to improve our team at the most crucial position on the field? I mean, how stupid would we BE to want a QB that can throw for 4500 yards in a season? I mean damn, what do we want around here? Wins? Not me. No way. I like it just the way it is. 8-8 is something you can set your watch to. Steady. Even. Boring. Dead. ~Bang

TheGoodBits
I want Cutler for this years first and JC. No two first rounders for him I would rather it be Campbell and next year's first... I think we'll have a later first rounder next year, so it won't be as valuable.
SnyderMustGo
For all those who are worried that Cutler would "take a year to learn the system": You do not have to worry about Cutler taking a year to learn the system. Good quarterbacks pick up new systems and excel immediately (see, e.g., Brees, Romo sits to pee, Brady). Only garbage QBs like JC take years to learn a new system, and in JC's case, it apparently take 8 years to learn how to play. As for "JC is getting stabbed in the back"--- who cares? I'm a fan of the Redskins. I have no loyalty to any player. He got his chance and he blew it. We have paid him a lot, and he has not earned it. We owe him nothing. This is why you shouldn't be fan of the players; you should be a fan of the team and want what is best for the team.
SkinsMaster88
I vote no. We'd have to give up some significant draft picks. We'd abandon any ability to see whether Jason Campbell can truly be effective as a QB with a 2nd year in Zorn's system. We'd have to pay Cutler a $100m+ contract as an extension to keep him happy enough to actually play for the team he's under contract for. We'd abandon any chance to pick up any significant other players for the remainder of this offseason, leaving us with the same holes at RT, LDE, and SLB. We'd again be sacrificing a potential (or mutliple) young key player(s) to correct a past wrong (if the consensus by the franchise is that Campbell isn't worth keeping). We'd be counting on Cutler having the same sort of success in a new system without the same pass-happy scheme he was in in Denver for the past 3 years, along with the crappy defenses of the Chiefs and Raiders he'd get to play a combined 4 times every year. He's no proven winner with a losing record as a starter. Too much to sacrifice for a player at the same position you've already invested time and money for. His TD-INT ratio first 27 games: 29-31. Campbell's TD-INT ratio first 27 games: 29-17. Romo sits to pee didn't play until his 4th year in the NFL. Brady is basically an exception to the norm in a lot of ways. Not many 6th round picks are going to become one of the best players in the NFL. But even still, Brady didn't put up amazing fantasy numbers early in his career. He didn't have a QB rating over 90 until his 5th year in the NFL. He didn't pass for over 4,000 yds in a season until his 6th year in the NFL.

Veretax
I voted no, only that I think Sanchez, or a QB next year might be easier to get without killing our depth this year. I'm really warming up to Sanchez as a possible pick.

Chanhillbilly
Not real sure I want him. Cutler does have better numbers except for interceptions. But he also played in the worst division in football last year. If he is a headcase, then why bring down the rest of the team. Over and over, it has been proven that you can win a superbowl and have a successful team by having a QB who just doesn't loose games and commit mistakes. JC might fit that mold. But then again, JC may be a guy who really needs a fresh start to his career. He is getting killed with new systems every year and we know Zorn's days are probably numbered.
