I love american football, basketball, tennis, and others but nothing compares to soccer. The passion, tradition, and history cannot be matched. I understand why people don't like it or even hate it, its hard a sport to understand if no one is there to explain teh game. I only got into soccer 3 years ago when my cousin came from england. He was here all summer during the WC 06 and explained the strategy, skill, and positions. I got hooked. If no one has explained soccer to you then it just looks like 11 people running around chasing a ball and the scoreline rarely gets past 2 or 3 goals. However, once you understand the game you start to see a constant war between two sides continuously fighting for possession and continiously searching for ways past the opposition defense. It didn't interest me, yet it didn't bore me either... If there's no alternatives, I'll be happy watching soccer, but if there are alternatives, I'll watch those instead... I laugh at this because you have no idea what you are talking about. The sport itself is amazing, the strategy and tactics are endless. You have to go to school in Europe and pass classes to become a soccer coach, that in itself shows the depth of the sport. I love football but compared to soccer its boring. Too many commercials, too many stoppages. In soccer a 90 minute game takes.......90 minutes, what?!?!? yea thats right. This year college basketball games took 2 1/2 hours because they had a timeout/commercial every 2 minutes. I love basketball but that was insane. Can't do it. neither can I. i don't know the game so I can't understand the appeal. To me it is the most static game in the world. I love soccer and basketball and in those sports its continuous movement and action but in baseball everything is separated by pitches, too much waiting for me. However, from listening to dcoles it seems that there is a lot to the game but I dont know if i will ever get around to finding out. Soccer has completely captivated my attention and the fact that it is basically year long involvement makes it a huge plus. August to may is the season. June - transfer window, and considering there are over 100 leagues there is a lot of changing in squads and rosters which makes June fun.
